Guest guest
Hi there, I am delurking to ask for some insight. I am 6.5 months pregnant at the present time. We have been researching the vaccination issue for quite some time now both for our future children and pets. My concern is that I have " heard " warnings about pregnant women being around 'newly vaccinated babies' and or 'puppies' and am curious if anyone has any proof that this is not just a hoax. I have learned to be cautious of what I hear until I have confirmed it.... We placed a deposit with a breeder on a future puppy over a year ago and due to delays and timing difficulties NOW is when he has to come, unfortunately this was BEFORE we began our research on the vaccination issue and well before we ever thought I would be pregnant this year! :-). (otherwise we would have found a non vaxing breeder) So.... we have the big 8 week old fluff ball tentatively flying in this Thursday and I am not sure if I should be taking major or minor precautions for my unborn childs safety and if so, for how long. The breeder has informed us that apparently her dogs get their shots at 5 weeks, 7 weeks and 9 weeks (overkill or what?). Although we will discontinue all future vaccinations, he will have been vaccinated at 5 weeks and as well as 1 WEEK PRIOR TO HIS ARRIVAL at our home. Anyone have any concrete thoughts on this?? Thanks Ontario, Canada
