Kibera Community Youth Programme (KCYP) is a community based youth initiative working in Langatta constituency. In advancing community partnership towards finding solutions to problems experienced in Kibera, KCYP is happy to partner with Initiative for Sports and Social Arts (ISSA), Mashimoni Youth Group, Soweto Youth Group, Lainisaba Youth Group, Chill and Stay Alive Youth Group; all which are youth initiatives working in Kibera, empowering youth and creating awareness on HIV/AIDS and social vises in the society through different approaches. This unique partnership is geared towards marking this year's World AIDS Day, we are jointly organizing a one-day event dubbed: Kibera Youth Stop AIDS, Keep the Promise. The event will be a one-day drama festival on 1st December 2005 at Laini-saba grounds starting at 10 a.m to 4 p.m. We'll be honoured to have you in attendance to celebrate and recognize various talents by young people in Kibera. It is a rare opportunity for you to see for yourself, what young people are capable of doing on their own and ascertain the progress that can be made in community development if they can be accorded appropriate support. Through generous support from friends of KCYP, the artist will be awarded presents and certificates in recognition of their efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS through arts. Efforts are also being made to assist the winners in recording their songs, plays etc and professional training in enhancing their productions. In attendance will be,representatives from the World Bank,Kenya office amongst other invited guests. We are looking forward to the support of the media in highlighting the numerous talents in Kibera towards finding mutual support in nurturing them to create sustainable livelihoods for youth of Kibera in this era of unemployment problems in the country. Let us join our efforts towards winning the war against AIDS through the numerous talents that young people have; while assisting them to create sustainable livelihood ventures with an aim of eradicating extreme poverty. As young people, we have a responsibility to create change in our society; it is upon us to think creatively and independently towards the change that we want to see. Your support will make this a reality. Yours Sincerely, (Signed) Fredrick Ouko Secretary,Organising Committee. 0720786218,0724271371 PS: This event is kindly sponsored by Creative Art Promotions,ActAlive,MAAA and Individual friends of KCYP.
