Mr. : You're a great spin doctor! I wasn't aware that any members of the forum had criticized our organizations for past fraudulent dealings with African nations! What fraud? What African Nations? Which members claimed this? Who specifically was defrauded? For what amount? When? How? You were the spinmaster on what you claimed were questions? Now you admit that indeed they were slanderous, unfounded statements??? Gotcha! I am warning you again to cease and desist spreading your slander and lies! And if you are not lying then prove it! Stop the games and answer the questions. What fraud? What African Nations? Which members claimed this? Who specifically was defrauded? For what amount? When? How? Regarding your posting, you're right, organizers must cover their expenses. Can you tell me what do you consider overboard. Do you know what the expenses are for meals, hotels, ground transportation, meeting space, AV equipment and technicians, etc.? If you don't know this then wouldn't your comments be a bit unfair? Also, what makes you think that our participants are "primarily average or just poor"? Where'd you get that information? Can you tell me what percentage of our participants are average or poor? And of those who might be, what did they actually end up paying for their registration? Or did they pay at all? Please don't allow yourself to be drawn into or influenced into making false, unsubstantiated, slanderous comments about something which you have no knowledge or facts. It serves none of us for the greater good. God Bless, Mia
Guest guest
The Sisters for Life InternationalTraining and Development Conference "Strengthening Our Economic Capacity to Care: Through Education, International Trade and Resource Exchange Workshops "Crystal City, VirginiaSeptember 6-11, 2004 Explanation of conference date changeMarch 9, 2004 "Women from throughout the African Diaspora have worked for almost a year to organize and mobilize delegations, secure funding and complete lengthy and costly application processes to obtain Visas and travel documents. Yet, we find ourselves a month away with over 98% of our delegates still waiting for appointments to apply for their Visa's at American embassies in their countries of origin. We have been advised by the US State Department that the delays are a result of new guidelines and procedures being implemented at the various Embassies which has resulted in a backlog of applications in many countries. To date 98% of our delegates have yet to be scheduled for an interview. The State Department has agreed to send out a conference alert to the various embassies, however, they cannot and are not guaranteeing that the process will move any faster or that individuals will be issued a Visa after their interview. The decision to issue a Visa is strictly at the discretion of embassy officials. Clearly with the short amount of time remaining it is reasonable to expect that many delegates may not get appointments to interview for Visa's in time to make the April 14-18th Conference. Further, airline ticket prices will soar for most travelers after March 20th, yet it would not be prudent to invest in the tickets if you do not have a Visa. Therefore the SFL International Advisory Board has voted to reschedule the conference for September 6-11, 2004 in an effort to allow delegates from countries requiring a Visa to to receive their interviews and to have ample time to make their travel arrangements to the US. Please contact your delegate coordinators or the conference organizing committee if you have any questions or comments. We hope that this will make it easier and less stressful for all of you. While it is a major task for us, the conference loses it's purpose and integrity without our Sisters from the Continent, the Caribbean and other destinations throughout the African Diaspora. Despite the obstacles, we will continue the battle. ,Conference Chair
