Guest guest
Austin got circumcised, but it looks kinda funny! He is so tiny. Thank goodness he's not as infatuated as his brother about it, though! The other day, Dakota comes running up to me, naked, and says, look, mommy, by flipper is big! It grew up! I thought I was gonna die! What do you say to a 4 year old when it starts coming up? I just laughed and said, gee, that's great! Let's leave it alone to get some rest now, OK? Then I about fell over. Too bad his father was sleeping. I REALLY could have used him on this one! Still don't know why he was naked! Oh, when Austin stands up to pee, he pulls on his nads, instead of his flipper. Please excuse the use of the word flipper. We used it with my cousins when they were little, and it just stuck. Much less embarrassing to hear them yell out about flippers than any of the other names, nobody really knows what they are talking about this way! And they do LOVE to talk! Well, hope all had fun! Beth, mommy to Austin Boo and Dakota Poo, and I am nearly bald from pulling my hair out!
Guest guest
Sorry for forgetting to make a subject. When I did have them in the quarts they did not do as well. It is so odd they can be so small and still multiply. Cherries? Fresh off the tree or dried or? What is ocean solution? Your grains were so big HUGE compared to what they have become after many months. Since they are still multiplying then they must be ok. I work for the city and looked up the water content. WE are on artesian well with no treatment. There is a large amount if calcium in the water. We love the kefir drink from them. Sort of like a cocktail with out the kick. Nice and fizzy but not foamy with yeast. I have not been rinsing the grains as they are doing so well other then being small and we like the fizzy. They did not grow as well when I was rinsing them. They are clear with no coating on them. Raisins seem to make them get coated. I will experment with some of the extras. Thanks again Chris > From: Marilyn Kefirlady <marilynjarz@...> > Subject: Re: > > Date: Wednesday, October 14, 2009, 5:18 PM > It is fun to watch them grow like > that, isn't it? It is concentrated ocean water from the pristine waters off the coast of Florida. It is mainly used for fertilizer. It is so clean I use it for my salting needs plus take it as a supplement. I use 10 drops in my water kefir per quart of sugar water. It makes the grains bigger with distinctness. > > Your grains were so big HUGE compared to what they have become after many > months. Since they are still multiplying then they must be ok. They are not perfectly happy or they would be bigger. There is nothing wrong with their growth factor obviously. > I work for the city and looked up the water content. WE are on artesian > well with no treatment. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, When you ship the fresh water grains, would it be crushed into tiny pieces? Would that affect the grains in terms of its effectiveness to brew nice water kefir? Do you use just ziplock bag without padded bubbles?? Thanks, Shirl From: Marilyn Kefirlady <marilynjarz@...> Subject: Re: Size Date: Thursday, 15 October, 2009, 5:52 PM
Guest guest
Hi Shirl, Since water grains are way more fragile than milk kefir grains I always ship them in a box. I ship milk grains in an envelope. Guest guest
Thank you Marilyn. I will give it a try with some of the extras. Will let you know how it goes. > > > Sorry for forgetting to make a subject. > > > > When I did have them in the quarts they did not > do as well.
