Guest guest
Hi I think most of you know Sara was Dx with epilepsy 1.5 years ago. She has been on Carbatrol since first diagnosed. Well, once and awhile she will get real dizzy when she wakes up. In fact the past two days she's been so dizzy she missed summer school yesterday. She snapped out of it yesterday by 8am but I kept her home anyway. This morning it happened again and I gave her some juice and let her lay down awhile. I thought I was going to have to cancel her bus but she came around with enough time to throw her clothes on and eat quickly to catch the bus. I took her to the DR last year for this (saw one in her group of drs....not her Reg Ped.) and he blew this off, he even made the comment " are you sure Sara knows what the word dizzy means? " I answered yes when she tells me she's dizzy, she is white as a ghost, no color in her lips and holding on to the nearest BIG object (like a dresser) YES she knows what DIZZY means anyway they checked her blood, looked for stuff and chalked it off as a virus. Well, I really don't buy this, she cant have a virus and be fine an hour later....it only hits in the morning and she doesn't even have to get out of bed for her to know she's soooooo dizzy. If it passed quickly maybe I wouldn't be so alarmed but shoot its affecting her quality of life and MINE Heehee (if she misses the bus I have to take her lol) OK if you are still with me there is more Sara seizures seemed to be triggered by bouts of strep throat......after her second seizure we had tonsils and adenoids out to cut back on this trigger factor and she's been strep free ever since BUT after the surgery the DR told me Sara has a very small airway, that this is something we need to " deal " with in the future (deal with??? what the heck did he mean by this, again I was blown away and didn't ask). He also added she has LOTS of scar tissue from intubations. Well I forgot all about this and didn't mention it to Sara's Neuro.....Im awful with medical stuff......I get so overwhelmed about the worst scenarios OK a question??? Mom (a nurse) and I were talking about Sara's seizures and she wants me to talk to a DR about possibly her small airway might be the TRIGGER for her seizures but I have no idea who to bring this up to...Sara's ENT? Neuro who understands poorly, my questions? or her Ped who usually just refers me to the specialists? In Aug. the DR is taking Sara off her Medicine which is making me a bit nervous now (especially since she's been so dizzy lately) I really would like to be more aggressive with her trigger factors to ward off any future seizures. Have any of your kids had dizzy spells? How long did they last? Thank you all for listening, it just breaks my heart to see Sara this way, laying on the bed white as a ghost bahhhhh I just cried before I typed this. Kathy mom to Sara 9..........Oh the " Ozone Levels " are awful here right now, could this be a factor in the dizzy spells?
