Guest guest Posted June 23, 2001 Report Share Posted June 23, 2001 Hey Jill! The animal signs work well, cow, dog, pig...Austin attended sped pre for 1.5 years, and used them there for song time. Now, he is going to his twin's regular Ed preschool for the summer, and all the kids have started using the signs along with the words, like a game when singing songs like old Mc. It sort of reinforces things for Austin. He uses a combo of sign and speech. They all have fun doing it, and learn something in the process. By the way, Austin attended this reg Ed pre last summer as well, and being with speaking students, he made progress in leaps and bounds with speech...This coming year will be his last of pre, then on to kindy. He will be going to a different reg ed pre this school year. He was leaving behind all the other students at the sped class, and getting bored...then bad...The reg ed class did so much for him, and we see an improvement in just the last 2 weeks, when he switched classes!
