Guest guest
Nadine, my son's Dentist recommends letting the kids (at this age) chew on a toothbrush while taking a bath. He also mentioned that while kids are learning to brush their teeth it's a good idea for the parents to only " help = brush their teeth " once a day. The other times, let the child brush his own teeth... Hope this helps...
Guest guest
Hi, First, let him watch you when you brush your teeth. While you are brushing, let him know how much you like it. Also, make sure you have " kiddie " toothpaste(Adelena tells me mommy's toothpast burns). You can also try to do it with a washcloth, until he is used to it. Subject: Toothbrushing Nightmare -- Non-DS Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 00:15:37 -0000 Hi All, You've all been such great help with my past postings...here I go again! My non-DS son, Trent, is 20 months and pitches a FIT when we try to brush his teeth. We've tried singing and brushing the teeth of his snowman (his " lovey " ) and nothing works. I called the pedi dentist yesterday and spoke with a hygenist to get some tips on what to do and she said we must brush them or they will rot (which I already knew, but I was looking for more ideas). Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm desperate! Thanks! Guest guest
It may be the toothpaste, Nadine. Some toothpastes burn the mouths of children and they hate that. Especially non-gels. Some gels do, though. Also, be sure and use a very soft toothbrush or a washcloth instead of a toothbrush. granny, been there --- " Beautiful that war and all its deeds of carnage must in time be utterly lost. Guest guest
Have you tried the Nuk toothbrush set? It starts out with just a nubby end (no brush), just to kind of desensitize their little mouths...then after they will tolerate this, you go to the next one and so on. There are 3 in the set I think. It took a while, but he eventually learned to love it and now gets mad when it is time to stop! I got ours at TOYS R US. Good luck!
