Guest guest
Any suggestions on how to keep a c-pap mask on all night long would be greatly appreciated. My 16 yr old can't tolerate the nasal masks since he is a mouth breather which leaves us to the full face mask which usually leaks or he inadvertently pulls off in his sleep. As a result his smart pap has been recently transported to our attic in nonuse for over a year. Caroline
Guest guest
Hi Caroline,I was just dxed with sleep apnea and am trying to use the c-pap with not much success. I lay awake for two hours forcing my mouth shut and then take it off so i can gt to sleep. This has been so frustrating. You would not recomend the full face mask?I was going to call the dr mon and ask for one.During the test i stopped breathing 12 times an hour so i really need thisbut the straps are very uncomfortable on my cheekbones also.I felt so foolish to be having such a hard time and a s little guy does just fine with it .Any help from anyone would be appreciated also. Gail how did they get in your house!!!??? What an awful thing to happen. Carole l.com wrote: Any suggestions on how to keep a c-pap mask on all night long would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
That's cool. That some mask put people asleep in a few seconds- like those people that don't understand the meaning of bedtime, and going to sleep at a decent time, instead of going to bed after their parents are asleep. Wwhere can I find out more information about it? From, --- santa5967@... wrote: > You would not recommend the full face mask? > I can't say. Guest guest
what we did for nathan, now 10, was---the first few months a nightmare, uugh, but after that we talked to him about it every night, and still go through the same story like sutff, " this is nathans night time nose, nathan needs to leave on all night right? and does nahtan bite his nose? and nathan will give breif answers, and make a social story about it, ours has simple pics of do's and don'ts. will usually leave on until 2-4am then he takes it off and an alarm goes off on it, that wakes us and i will usually fix for him again, mostly because he is still a active sleeper all over his bed and gets tangled in tubing, other times i think he just gets sweaty, he has heated humidity through it too it stops the snoring drastically!!! i think he goes to rub his face and oops. the other night he wasnt sleepy apparently but knows to leave on and was playing with cpap mask on and oops pulled everything off his shelf water all over and up his nose, the goof--couldnt get mad thought he still had it on, just playing, heheh, as for the chewing that has been a hassle, but we continue to remind him NO biting of his " nose " (our name for his mask)and ive started rubbing a little ambesol on the bottom part of the mask, that tastes terrible, heheh, and will numb mouth some too. As for the fitting this took some time but with the blue gel ones they have out nowadays wow, it molds to face terrifically! way better than those silicon ones. hope this helps. shawna. --- santa5967@... wrote: > Any suggestions on how to keep a c-pap mask on all > night long would be > greatly appreciated. Guest guest
ooh just remembered often many individuals with ds, and have sleep apnea are majorily mouth breathers and have this thing called mouth drop when they sleep, mainly meaning they still breathe wit their mouth even with a mask on, they do have a strap goes around head to hlep mouth shut while sleeping, we have not yet resorted to such. Most docs wont use a full face mask, especially for children cause they could swallow air and that will cause one to vomit then they could choke or aspirate both very bad. shawna. --- carole any <carole9545@...> wrote: > > Hi Caroline,I was just dxed with sleep apnea and am > trying to use the c-pap with not much success.
