We call them stys too. Wal-Mart carries a medication just for this, called

" STYE " . It's a little tube of ointment and it really does heal them quickly

(usually within 2 days).

I used to have lots of boils and styes on my eyes as a child. It turned out

that they were all caused by food allergies. I am allergic to pepper, curry

ginger, chillies and peppers. They are the things that caused my eye

problems anyway. Just something you could think of checking out

I haven't had this... but my fiance has had two in his lifetime, the last

just last month. Although, it was never called a cyst but a stye, we were

told it is an infection in the gland of the eyelid. I know someone else who

had the same thing (my roommate two years ago) and her's grew big and

popped and then went away. However, my fiance's did not. He was first put

on oral antibiotics and it didn't work so it was removed. Anyway, I am

telling you this because both have said it is completely painless. My

fiance has been " treating " his with salt water as well and he is convinced

that it is the salt water that did the trick. He was also given topical

antibiotic to place in the eye and on the lid and it also was unsuccessful

in treating it.

Cheers,

Sara

I have a thing on my eye that I am told is a cyst of some variety. I have

had it for donkeys years, at least 25 years, and it hasn't really got any

bigger over that time. The doctors offered to remove it but as I would be

awake to have it done I declined as I have no wish to sit staring up at a

scapel about to slcie down my eyelid! It doesn't hurt tho it is annoying

sometimes, particularly when kids (who usually first notice my crooked

tooth) ask what it is! And the eyelashes that grow out of it grow down into

my eye so I have to pull them out before they irritate.

I've had this before....it's a stye. I put the hottest washcloth I could

stand and it popped and was better over night. I just run the washcloth

under running water to get it hot.

Your cyst sounds like fun. LOL. You would not like to have cataract

surgery. They hook your eyelids open so you have to watch. You don't see

details but it is really weird. Jessie
