Dear All,

As everybody knows by now, UNGASS meeting is going to be held later this

month. I think it is imperative for each one of us to lobby with the

Health Minister to ensure that a few priority items are addressed in his

message at the meeting. I have listed 3 top priority areas -

(1) Increased coverage of Voluntary Counselling & Testing all over the

country with quality tested counselling and HIV testing.

(2) Community based care & support systems which provides ongoing

counselling, referrals, medical care (treatment for opportunistic

infections, prevention of mother to child transmission) & peer group support

(3) Address issues of stigma & discrimation against PLHAs with increased

awareness in the community, creating an enabling environment &

involvement of PLHA individuals & groups in all aspects of National

program planning and management.

I would advice all members of the Forum to contribute with

their own priority list and forward/fax it to the Health Minister.

Regards,
