Guest guest
Ok, this is not strictly thyroid related but you lot are such a knowledgeable and experienced bunch, I figure one of you might have an answer. All my life I've had this thing where when I'm in need of more sleep, my legs ache - usually my calves, although tonight it is much worse than normal and my whole left leg is agony. It's a throbbing, aching pain and absolutely horrible. Tonight it's happening because I haven't slept well for a little while - touch of insomnia last week (adrenal I think, I'd forgotten to take my NAX for a few days prior), sinus problems the last 3 or 4 nights and I just can't sleep properly when I'm bunged up. So I'm needing to catch up a bit and it's started up. It doesn't happen very often - just in this sort of circumstance. I don't think it's restless leg syndrome, as someone has suggested; I have no inclination to move my legs at all, they just hurt. I can ease it sometimes by elevating them - not working tonight mind so off to bed shortly. Any thoughts on what might be causing it? I thought it was a common thing - but it seems not! Again it is not a recent development - this has been lifelong, I can remember it happening when I was knee high to a grasshopper. Always when I need a bit more sleep than normal and it doesn't seem to matter what I've done in the day - it's happened in my childhood after a day charging around, it's happening today when I've spent most of the day sat where I am now, having done just a few short dog walks. I've always been overweight, if that might be part of it; a couple of stones most of my life, although I'm up to 6 stones overweight now. Any thoughts?
