Guest guest
Hello Elaine I think you may well not be absorbing the thyroid hormone at the cellular level due to the fact that your ferritin level is VERY low and this should be supplemented with immediate effect by taking some form of elemental iron such as Ferrous Glutamate or Ferrous Sulphate 200mgs, either twice or three times daily, until your ferritin level starts to rise, and then reduce the dose to 200mgs once daily (with food - and four hours away from thyroid hormone replacement). Your blood results show that you are hypothyroid with TSH of 4.7 (right at the top of the range) and free T4 of 13. For those who are not taking thyroid hormone replacement, their free T4 should be just over the middle of the reference range, so your fT4 level should be somewhere in the region of 17. You should start natural thyroid extract by 30mgs only and stay on that for around 7 days before increasing by another 30mgs. If you adverse reactions, you should increase this again in 3 to 4 weeks by another 30mgs. You may need to decrease your Erfa by 30mgs to see whether this helps you feel better, but meanwhile, ask for your iron, transferrin saturation%, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc to be tested. If they try to tell you that there is no association between these specific nutrients and low thyroid, have ready a copy of the attached document to show them references to just some of the research/studies that have been done to show that there is. I would not change the DHEA just yet. You need to be taking DHEA for quite some time before you start to see any specific changes, so please be patient. Can you take your temperature at least 3 times a day according to Dr Rind's Metabolic Temperature Graph http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph It is VITAL that if you are suffering with systemic Candida, that you get this properly diagnosed and properly treated. See all the information in our FILES SECTION,(accessible from the Home Page of this forum) and open the FOLDER entitled 'Candida'. Read all the information there. Tell us exactly what you are doing to shift this problem Elaine? If you want to get better, you have to be seriously aggressive in your endeavours.
