Guest guest
Came on here 8 weeks ago...blood test for under active thyroid had shown as thyroid now over active. GP suggested reduction of meds from 125mcu to 75 mcu in 2 stages and repeat blood test after 8 weeks. Repeat blood done last week and call from GP to say TSH high so increase meds to 100mcu. Had made appt to see GP at same time as bloods to discuss problem. Never seen this GP before, took friend with me...he said as we walked in... " oh dear hunting in packs worries me!! Told him and showed him that in 4 years I have only had one TSH test come back within normal limits...ie under 5. Others have been 7 or 8 or thereabouts. Can we try and find a solution to me feeling so rough all the time.....nah...I'm over reacting, Thyroid goes up and down all the time...they aren't bad results at all!! What about having a T3 done...oh dear...you have been reading too much about this stuff, usually all nonsense in my opinion. This has been going on for 4 years now....yes, but you have had panic attacks haven't you so this is probably all in your head. Do you feel anxious...yes I do, but its because I feel ill and its not being addressed, are you sure you aren't ill because your anxious though? My BP has been elevated the last month, hovering around 160/80....aah, that's not bad is it? But I thought over 140 needed some attention, I'm not keen on having heart attack or stroke....oh thats highly unlikely. So, why do the press and medical profession keep driving it home to us then. Laugh...well all this business about strokes etc is rubbish, it only affects about 5 people in a 100!! So, why do it then, well, its to try and save those 5!! You are worrying too much, why? Well, I'm a qualified nurse and I know about medical stuff. Aaah, sorry if I sounded a bit patronising with all this. Eventually he decided to take some bloods....in case I'm anaemic!! They may not do the T3 you want though, thats usually consultant recommendation, but I will put it on and see. Come back in a fortnight and see me and we shall see how things are then. Am I going to....well yes I am and then whatever the results I am going to file a complaint about his attitude and his behaviourt. I have never been so appalled by a GP as this one. I cried all the way home. Just totally rubbished everything I said, and quite happy to do it in front of my friend (my hunting pack).
