Guest guest
forwarding this to main thyroid forum. Sheila ______________ HI I was just putting 2 and 2 together and had this thought: My wife claims that T4, at least around 100 mcg per day, makes her feel bad. On the other hand the T4 advocates claim that the peripheral conversion will handle shortcomings of the thyroid gland because the peripheral conversion will handle the extra T4 needed to make up the shortfall of T3 from the thyroid gland. But peripheral conversion also makes rT3 as some sort of regulatory mechanism. Originally, I thought it was only to get rid of T4 by making an inactive hormone, but apparently it also gets in the way of the T3 in receptors. So I wonder if this is not the mechanism that would suggest the need for T3 for all victims. Have a great day,
