Pat - challenge this particular endocrinologist to cite you

references as to WHY he is not allowed to treat her because her TSH has dropped

to 2.6. Tell him that there are NO UK guidelines on the diagnosis and

management of thyroid disease and that according to Ann Keen MP, any doctor is

allowed to use whatever guidelines they wish, even if using those from another

country so long as they can give good cause as to the reason they used such a

guideline.

Even the GMC have now recognised this, and although Dr Skinner

was reported to the GMC for daring to diagnose and treat outside of

'mainstream' guidelines, after 7 years, they finally accepted that Dr Skinner

had chosen to use European guidelines with a TSH reference range of 0.3 to 2.5

- and found this to be quite acceptable.

reply privately would be best though

but i desperately need a peadiatric Endo who will treat a

10 yr old who is already coeliac and has hashis antibodies

TSH went from 2.61 to 3.87 to 5.13 then back to 2.6

only time free T4 was done was when TSH was 5.13 and then

it was 14.3 ( 12-22)

The registrar would have treated her then but she had no

signs of Hypothyroid

The Consultant REFUSES to treat her now because her

TSH dropped to 2,6

usual claims of NOT ALLOWED

Now of course she is failing at school , her nails do not

grow but otherwise no outward symptoms of hypo

Central Hypothyroid is familial but i think the idiot does

not know what that means and that you MUST NOT rely on TSH with it
