Guest guest
I have never heard of those Essentail Guide Books, that is something my son would like. He is really into the Star Wars thing, has been for a long time. We just bought him the new Star Wars movie and he's watched it over and over. I will let you know if I find them, Thanks for the great suggestion. Gail Africa <lilies@...> wrote: .. My son with the AS wants the new Star Wars video game for christmas. I checked the price the other day, 50.00 dollars!!!!! Wow, they sure are costly. But he's hard to shop for because he's almost 14, and he's not really into toys anymore, so I will probably get it for him . Any suggestions about gifts for a boy that age? I have three kids and usually spend about 100-125 on each one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. He doesn't really like to read much and he doesn't have to many interests, that's the problem, and I don't want to by him all video games either, maybe just one. Hi , I am going to suggest Star Wars books. Even though your son is not much of a reader I bet he would be with the S>War selection. The Essential Guides are around $19.00 and filled with information. There are many ‘Essential Guides’. For example The Essential Guide to Characters, The Essential guide to Aliens, The Essential guide to Weapons. Ask you son what aspect of S.Wars interests him most. The Essential Guides are in black and white and is what my son likes. The ‘New Essential Guides are in color, may cost more I am not sure. likes black and white so he goes with the older version. There are lots of paperback Star Wars at around $7.00, maybe try one. likes the ones before 2000. and Nobel always has a large selection of Star Wars. A used book store is also worth a try. DK books www.dk.com has Star Wars The Ultimate Visual Guide, I am not sure of the price (hard cover). There are a few ideas that I think he might like………Gail ,13 As. If he's into Star Wars, you might look at some of the kits for putting together the Millenium Falcon and various other space ships from the movies. I believe there's even a " build your own 'working' light saber " available at Toys R Us or somesuch; I know I saw an ad for that in the past week or two. Also, if he's into Star Wars, there are videos & DVD's available of the animated series, as well as of the movies. If he's into video games, you might look at video gaming magazines. They make good stocking-stuffers. Look around also and see if there are software programs available to let him design his *own* video games. I don't know what the expense on that would be, but you might check it out anyway. When Louie was that age, we began to insist that he give us a Christmas list with what he wanted precisely stated. And with the understanding that he would not receive *everything* on the list. It made shopping a lot easier on us, believe me, and it made Christmas a lot easier on everyone...especially Louie. So you might want to take that tack. And don't forget the traditional " socks and a sweater " ! LOL! Guest guest
Aandraya,What a wonderful dad you have! I know, initially it is scary to have plants or trees in the house... this is the first year we have a live tree too, but it has been fine. No problems at all. We had an artificial tree for a year and I just didn't want to put it up again. I really need the real deal to lift my spirits during this time. It has great spiritual meaning for me as does a real wreath, which represents the ongoingness of life, the circle. From: "Aandraya" <aandraya@...>bird mites Sent: Friday, December 23, 2011 9:31:26 PMSubject: Re: Christmas -My dad brought me a small xmas tree in soil and I was a little panicked at first about having soil and a live plant in my apartment but so far so good.AandrayaOn Dec 23, 2011, at 10:56 PM, Goldstein@... wrote: Am so sorry .
