Guest guest
One thing to keep in mind: giving Motrin does not cure anything. It can actually hurt because it is stopping the body from doing its job of expelling disease. It delays the healing. Of course, she slept for four hours. That's how long that stuff works for. She didn't sleep because she was better but because she was drugged. That also keeps you from knowing if she's getting worse because now you don't know what her true temperature is. On the flip side, getting sleep is good, too. I'm not criticizing. I have done the same myself in the past. Think of it as someone trying to leave a room (someone dangerous you want to go!). If you keep shutting the door, you won't get rid of them as fast and the danger remains for longer. I actually try to keep my kids extra warm to encourage the fever to do its job. It's so hard to know what to do, isn't it? On the spitting up, don't assume it's from too much milk at once, although it might be. It could also be her body trying to get the Motrin out. Hydrating and cuddling is the best approach. Expect the fever to go up again tonight so you're not surprised. If it doesn't, then that's good, too. Homeopathy will be your best friend in cases like this. I encourage you to get a good book on the subject. Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicine by Cummings and Dana Ullman is a great introductory book. It has saved me so many times during the past 20 years of parenting, and with pets, too. Guest guest
I know - we all want to do something BUT you have just fought her body's ability to detox from the illness Everyone has to learn to trust their bodies and their baby's bodies. We do know how to fight illness. Sheri Re: Advice please.... Vaccinations > Thank you all for the advice and support. Guest guest
Sorry--just saw this. The doc doesn't know that it's viral. He's probably assuming it since the fever is still there and therefore the antibiotics aren't working (and I'm stunned he said to stop the antibiotics). Your son is still running a fever because you're not letting it do its job. The Motrin/Tylenol combo is keeping it down so it keeps coming back when those wear off. This can be very dangerous. What if there seriously was something wrong but you didn't know it was getting worse because the fever was being controlled? That is your alarm system. Don't shut it off. Now, I'm not sure what the doc means by clear: no fluid? no inflammation/redness? The ear infection originally diagnosed is probably not an infection at all. The ears can look red inside if there is a fever. When you give the Motrin/Tylenol the fever is forced down, and the redness in the ear will go away. It doesn't mean he's better. I would stop giving him that stuff, make sure he's getting only clear fluids/breastmilk, lots of rest and Vit. C and D3. I'd also give him Larix powder mixed in juice a couple of times a day, along with homeopathic meds. Do you know how to use them? How is he today? Guest guest
Boy doctors really love to instill panic in parents when they are vulnerable, don't they? Shame on them!  There's been some really good advice handed out in this thread over the last few days. Homeopathy is a MUST if you really want to help your child in a pinch without suppressing anything. Sheri's classes are awesome for this.  One thing that wasn't mentioned is chiropractic care for kiddos. I take my kids to a chiro as soon after birth as possible, then at least once per month for wellness care, and if they start showing signs of illness, the chiro is the first place I head. Often they are getting better before we even leave the office. Chiropractic removes nerve interference between the brain and the body's systems, allowing the body to function at optimal levels in order to do what it needs to do to bring it back to a healthy state. I cannot recommend chiropractic care for children highly enough! You can search for a pediatric chiropractor in your area here: http://icpa4kids.org/Find-a-Chiropractor/  Homeopathy and Chiropractic care literally saved my 2nd son's life! He had horrible allergies and asthma and had many, many hospitalizations before he was even two years old. I could take him in to the chrio in an acute asthma attack and we'd walk out of the office with him breathing so much better without drugs of any kind.  I've not only seen this with my own kids, but I recently started working in my chiro's office, and I see it with the other babies and kids in the practice, too. It never ceases to amaze me.   I hope your daughter is better now!!  On Tue, Jul 6, 2010 at 6:28 PM, nanbryzach <v.nanbry@...> wrote:  I took my 8 week (unvaccinated) to the pedi today because she had a fever all night that got to 102.9 at one point. He explained that if she is not better by tomorrow that we should take her into the ER for a spinal tap and antibiotics to rule out menigitis. She is nursing well and sleeping a lot in between. She used to smile a lot and I have tried many times today to get her to but to no avail. She does make eye contact though.I don't want to give her antibiotics and certainly I am afraid of the spinal tap for her. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Been to see Dr Peatfield and started on his regime. Week 1 off thyroxine NAX 1/2 Vit C CoQ 10 Veg Epa I seemed OK and didn't miss thyroxine! Week 2 Back on thyroxine Nax 1 Vit C CoQ30 NT 1 Started with headaches, muscle aches, top of spine and into head pain. Nausea Week 3 Throxine NAX 2 Vit C CoQ30 NT 1 Only lasted a morning as I became so ill I knew I could not tolerate it any longer. Been off 2 days now and headaches etc subsiding. Just got my adrenal report and I'm OK in the morning but go below from Noon onwards. Also DHEA is low and Dr Peatfield has recommended I supplement DHEA 25mg. However with me not tolerating NAX and NT what advice would people give... Thanks form Gill feeling more than a little bit fed up as without NAX and NT I was at least surviving each day, now I'm on the slope again Gill
