Guest guest
Hi all, I just got blood tests back from Drs for all vitamin and mineral type things. I'd been off all supplments a week before blood was taken so this should be accurate. Could someone give me thoughts on what I need to continue supplementing and roughly how much. Ferritin: 136 (16 - 445) Calcium: 2.28 (2.2 - 2.6) B12: 789 (180 - 900) Vit D: 106 (no range given, v annoyed altho they did say consider supplementation when 50-75). Magnesium: 0.8 (0.7 - 1.0) Folate: 9.6 (4.4 - 20) Potassium: 4.0 (3.5 - 5.3) Sodium: 139 (133 - 146) Creatinine: 59 (50 - 95) Urea: 3.5 (2.5 - 7.8) Thanks muchly Hannah
Guest guest
Hello Hannah, I'd been off all supplements a week before blood was taken so this should be accurate.Could someone give me thoughts on what I need to continue supplementing androughly how much.Ferritin: 136 (16 - 445) iron looks ok, so if you were supplementing iron, you might want to stop and check again after 6 months Calcium: 2.28 (2.2 - 2.6) ok - no supp necessaryB12: 789 (180 - 900) ok, but keep it at this level or slightly higher. If you supplement, one of the 1000 iu Solgar's B12 nuggets sublingually every now and again will do nicely. B12 levels will slowly drop - keep it topped up. Vit D: 106 (no range given, v annoyed altho they did say consider supplementation when 50-75). Level look fine at present, but to keep it at this level I would supplement with 1000 iu per day during the winter months. D3 is transient and has a half life of only 60 days, so needs regular topping up.... Folate: 9.6 (4.4 - 20) A little low - could do with a boost ....Potassium: 4.0 (3.5 - 5.3)okSodium: 139 (133 - 146)okCreatinine: 59 (50 - 95)okUrea: 3.5 (2.5 - 7.8)ok All the best J
Guest guest
Hi Hannah Most of these look fine and I have deleted those that don't need further supplementing. I would supplement Magnesium with 250 to 500mgs daily Folate with 5mgs Folic Acid daily Potassium is on the low side. Eat plenty of tomatoes, bananas and other foods high in potassium. Luv - Sheila Magnesium: 0.8 (0.7 - 1.0) Folate: 9.6 (4.4 - 20) Potassium: 4.0 (3.5 - 5.3)
