Hi Kathleen

Have you had a recent thyroid function test to show where the

free T3 level lies? It might not be getting properly absorbed at the cellular

level. Have you considered stopping the last dose of T3 at 6.00p.m. as this is

the active thyroid hormone and it might be this that is stopping you from

sleeping. Are you taking any adrenal support and lots of vitamin C?

Ask

your GP to check your iron level and also transferrin saturation%. If

necessary, show your GP the following information to show the association

between low levels of iron/ferritin and low thyroid:

          Iron

deficiency is shown to significantly reduce T4 to T3 conversion, increase

reverse T3 levels, and block the thermogenic (metabolism boosting)          properties

of thyroid hormone (1-4). Thus, iron deficiency, as indicated by an iron

saturation below 25 or a ferritin below 70, will result in diminished        intracellular

T3 levels.

Whatever the iron tablets did to your system when you were

pregnant doesn't necessarily mean you would get the same reaction now, all

these years later, and iron medication has changed a lot.

If you have queries about whether a doctor got your test results

the wrong way round, the only way to find out is to ask if you can see these

results as you are aware, doctors cannot withhold such information from you.

If you had need to have B12 patches in the past, it is likely

that if you were not kept on a maintenance dose of B12, your levels might be

low now and you again need B12. Hair falling out can be caused by low

iron/ferritin levels.

Luv - Sheila

Even my hair has started falling out again plus the swelling of my ankles and

feet. This also happened when first put on Thyroxine, and I was then told that

I was taking too much Thyroxine.

HI SHEILA

Welcome back and hope you had a good Xmas.

My GP is going to do another full count blood tests next week and also thyroid

test (but what thyroid test). My last lot of blood tests which amount to one and

a half A4 pages I sent a copy of them to DR Peatfield and he was pleased with

the results, but the only thyroid test that was done was TSH which was 3.3mu/L,

and my GP also said that the result was much improved on T3.

Dr Peatfield also said that Prednisolone would also be treating the adrenal

glands, and at 5mg a day would avoid the problem of it causing Osteoporosis.

I found too that I was better at taking the 10mgs at night than taking one in

the morning and one at night, but it did not help taking the full dose in the

morning.

I decided to lower the dose of Prednisolone by half a pill which caused the pain

of Polymyalgia to return (it may have been withdrawal symptoms as well).

I decided to try and increase the T3 again only half a 25mcg pill and as a third

dose. This in turn helps with the Polymyalgia.

It does not appear to help me to sleep by going to bed early, so with not

sleeping at night one then feels tired in the day, so late night's it is.

I was at one time taking H & B VITAMIN B12, but as my cramp got bad on taking

Magnesium Phosphate I felt that PHOSPHATES might be the cause, and the B12 in

turn has Diacalcium Phosphate in so I stopped taking it

I have not had cramp for quite a while now. I have no bruises either.

I would say that my face looks paler, but not yellow, and some blueness above

the lips.

With the swelling of my feet and the one that is worse is also the one that is

more painful on the ball of the foot which my Chiropodist is getting some

Orthotics made. I have been treating my feet with my infrared lamp at 5mins a

day and using a massager on them. The swelling is not as bad.

The foot that is the worst one, as a child I trod on something that went in my

foot. The foot became infected and I was given a penicillin injection, and in

turn the injection caused an allergic reaction in my arm which became red and

swollen, so had to have an antidote, and I am not able to take Penicillin in

pill form either.

I have to wonder if the infection in that foot might have caused a long term

problem.

I am taking 2500mg of vitamin C powder a day and Vitamin D2 1000IU.

Regarding the T3 (HALF A PILL) at 6.00 pm I do not want to cut it out, but will

take it at 5.00 pm. I cannot be on too high a dose as I do not feel any pounding

of my heart.

My GP thanked me for his present, but said he had been too busy over Xmas to do

much reading.

My GFR (KIDNEY TEST) is 60mL/min.

If you have the ability to read these test results which I am not able to I will

pop them to you in a zipped folder.

Best wishes for 2012
