Guest guest
Hi, Having felt very grim for last 4 weeks (still a bit sore under tongue and in neck and feeling wiped and cold) have just returned from docs where I was told that the bloods showed that I had had glandular fever at some point but that it was not active now and that what i had was probably just a long drawn out virus with post viral fatigue now. As for my croaky voice which comes and goes - I am being referred to ENT at hospital. I don't remember having glandular fever at least not in recent years - I felt incredibly grim last year and put that down to battling to get thyroid issues sorted as I was mainly tired cold and putting on loads of weight etc etc. - With glandular fever aren't you supposed to lose weight? Anyway it would seem that there are connections between glandular fever/viral and thyroid issues from what I can gather reading back on earlier forum postings. Who knows. What I did ask for and had been agreed is a letter of referral to Dr Skinner - so that is something. Stacey
Guest guest
Hi Stacey,I certainly didn't lose weight when I had glandular fever at the age of 38, but I was really ill with it and had 9months of sore throats and swollen lymphs. many people have glandular fever as teenagers and don't even know they've had it so you could have had it at any time. The glandular fever seemed to accelerate my hypothyroidism and it developed really fast within 18 months of being diagnosed with glandular fever. There are clear links between glandular fever and the development of hypothyroidism. I know my thyroid problem wasn't caused by the glandular fever but it is in many people.Hope that helpsDawn M From: Stacey <stacey57@...> To: thyroid treatment Sent: Thursday, 8 December 2011, 11:29 Subject: Epstein Barr bloods back - connections with hypoT Hi, Having felt very grim for last 4 weeks (still a bit sore under tongue and in neck and feeling wiped and cold) have just returned from docs where I was told that the bloods showed that I had had glandular fever at some point but that it was not active now and that what i had was probably just a long drawn out virus with post viral fatigue now.
