Guest guest
Hi everyone! Hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and wishing you much blessing in 2012! I am seeking urgent advice because Mum has just received her first test results since starting T3 and she has been summoned to an appointment with her GP early next week. With the GP's permission, Mum started adding T3 to her Levo on 4 October. She increased slowly and is now taking 15mcg T3 early morning, 15mcg T3 early afternoon and 50mcg Levo daily. Mum's results are as follows: TSH 0.87 (0.3 - 4.5) Free T3 3.8 (3.1 - 6.8) Free T4 5.2 (10.6 - 22.7) Can anyone please tell me if these results are 'good'? Is the free T3 high enough? Is it ok for the free T4 to be below the normal range? I believe that Mum is not yet at the correct dose of T3 because, while she has much more energy than before, she still has very obvious hypo symptoms, such as extreme cold and worsening agony in her arms, elbows, shoulders and neck. By the way, Mum is already taking iron, adrenal and a variety of other supplements, so she is dealing with these issues. She is also on a gluten free diet. While Mum's GP prescribed T3 for Mum, she did this out of ignorance (ie I wrote a letter asking her to give Mum T3 which she gave despite knowing nothing about it) rather than out of an understanding of thyroid issues. Since then, the GP has been rather uncomfortable with Mum increasing the dose and my feeling is that she will want to decrease Mum's dose if she can justify it. That's why I need your help to understand Mum's results and to know what to say at the appointment. Many thanks for your help, as always, Nicola
