I have just finished reading " Ageless " by Suzanne Somers and there are three

chapters in the middle on men's hormones. Sorry I have lent it to someone else

at the moment or I'd offer to send it to you.

Hi Adam, there is no difference in the treatment of men with

hypothyroid symptoms or women with hypothyroid symptoms, both are treated

exactly the same. They both need the same mineral/vitamin supplements and either

synthetic thyroxine (T4), synthetic Triodothyronine (T3), either alone or in

combination, or natural thyroid extract. There are different brands of thyroid

extract but most contain the exact same amount of T4 and T3, plus other

unspecified hormones, i.e. T2, T1 and calcitonin.

Attached is a list of recommended books in our TPA Library that

we are happy to loan out to our members for the cost of postage.

I want

to learn more about Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Dr

V and Suzanne Summers seem to be authorities on the subject but

most of the books on Amazon seem to be for women.

Can

you recommend any good books/Experts on Bio-Identical HRT for young men with

multiple hormone imbalances?

Are there Bio-Identical T3 and T4 available? If so, is it not better to use these rather than the synthetic versions?AdamThey both need the same mineral/vitamin supplements and eithersynthetic thyroxine (T4), synthetic Triodothyronine (T3), either alone or incombination, or natural thyroid extract.Sheila

Hi, I read the review for that on Amazon. The book seems written mainly for women. Do those three chapters go into detail on male hormones? There doesn't seem to be many books written for men on this subject. AdamI have just finished reading "Ageless" by Suzanne Somers and there are three chapters in the middle on men's hormones. Miriam

It depends on where you live. If in the US, bio identical T3/T4

can be compounded by selective pharmacies. Unfortunately, this is not done in

the UK. Why not go down the natural desiccated porcine thyroid extract route

Adam?

Sheila.

You should read Dr Thierry Hertoghe's big book, with hundreds of

references 'The Hormone Handbook' - there is everything about male hormones in

there. Mind you, it will only set you back about £140. Seriously though Adam,

type in 'Male Hormones' into Google and you will get up a lot of reading.

Hypothyroidism affects many more women than it does men, and that is perhaps

why so much information is geared towards women, but there is a lot out there

for men too.

Sorry, I don't have my copy with me just now as I have lent it out. Otherwise,

I would give you some detail about what those 3 chapters cover. If you want to

wait until I can lend you the book that will save you buying a copy. If you

want to do that please email me privately so that I have your email address. I

might have trouble finding this particular thread again when I get the book

back.
