Guest guest
Kerry, The rule is adrenals first, thyroid second. You need to sort out the adrenals or the thyroisd meds won't do their job and in fact, will stress the adrenals further. Have a look at the articles in the files on adrenals thyroid treatment/files/ADRENALS/ and think about buying some Nutri adrenal extra..... (NAX) Vitamin C dose can be higher than 1,500 per day, but might give you the runs..... I had results something like yours and it's taken me two years to get it right....... I took NAX - 3 or 4 a day and up to 20 mg cortisone... I now only take 1 NAX a day. It's slow going, but you can get there.... x > > Hi All > > I have received my Genova Adrenal Stress Profile results today and am not sure what I need to do now. > > The results are: (test taken on 06.12.11) > > Cortisol Levels > > Sample 1: 7.00 am: 11.4(L) (12-22) > Sample 2: 11.45 am: 4.2 (L) (5-9) > Sample 3: 4.00 pm: 3.6 (3-7) > Sample 4: 10.15 pm: 1.6 (1-3) > > Total Daily Cortisol: 20.8 (L) (21-41) > > DHEA > > Sample 2: 0.23 (L) (0.4-1.47) > Sample 3: 0.25 (L) > > DHEA:Cortisol Ratio: 1.15 (2-6) > > The report at the bottom says Exhaustion Stage and it goes on to list a few of the symptoms which are bang on with what I have been experiencing - fatigue, poor energy, chronic anxiety, blood sugar issues. > > I increased my ERFA to 3 grains just over a week ago and have seen some improvement, mainly in my mood, but I do have quite bad muscle weakness and shaky episodes still. > > Do I need to support my adrenals? and how do I go about doing that? > > I have just started taking Vitamin C 1000 mg and I take a Vitamin B Complex with 500 mg Vitamin C in it, but I am not consistent with the Vitamin B Comp as I have sometimes felt worse after taking it. > > So sorry for the long post and I would be so grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. > > Is it worth speaking to my Doctor or Private Endo? > > I wish all a Happy Christmas and thank you for all your help and support. > > Love and light > > Kerry x >
Guest guest
Hello Kerry, I very much doubt it would be worth you speaking with your GP or endocrinologist concerning your low adrenal reserve, as they only recognise those with 's Disease or Cushing's Syndrome. This is one problem you will have to deal with yourself. You certainly do have adrenal fatigue and need to boost them in order for the thyroid hormone to be fully utilised at the cellular level. You need to go to our forum thyroid treatment and on the Home Page, click on FILES. On the page that opens, scroll down to 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and scroll down that page to 'Nutri Ltd' document. There, you can order Nutri Adrenal Extra, Siberian Ginseng and Liquorice Tincture and get 33% discount by giving the TPA reference number. Take one Siberian Ginseng tablet daily and raise your vitamin C to 3/4000mgs daily. Take the liquorice tincture as recommended on the bottle, but you don't take this for a long period of time. Start the Nutri Adrenal Extra by taking 1 tablet with breakfast, and after 10 days, add another tablet but take this one with your lunch (never take any after 1.00p.m.). After another 10 days, you can take another NAE but take this with breakfast. If symptoms persist, you can take up to 6 tablets daily, but if symptoms still persist, you may need a course of Hydrocortisone to get your adrenals moving in the right direction. The high dose vitamin C helps the NAE to be fully absorbed and once your adrenals are functioning better, the thyroid hormone will start to work better. Always remember that your body will use what vitamin C it needs and excess will be excreted, usually through the bowels. You may also need to take 25mgs DHEA daily. Luv - Sheila I increased my ERFA to 3 grains just over a week ago and have seen some improvement, mainly in my mood, but I do have quite bad muscle weakness and shaky episodes still. Guest guest
Hi Sheila and x Thank you both so much for the replies - true angels x I rang at Nutri Ltd this afternoon and ordered the NAX. They don't do the Siberian Ginseng and Liquorice Tincture anymore. I will google to see if I can find somewhere else or if anyone knows of anywhere else I would be grateful to know. , I think I may have read somewhere before that you must sort the adrenals first, which slightly worried me as I never had adrenal problems until I went onto T4 (I was on T3 previously - thyroid cancer) - so the wrong throid meds for me caused this. I was actually quite relieved when I got my adrenal test results back showing something as I kept getting told everything was normal - apart from the fact that I felt nowhere near normal. I forgot to mention that I paid for a short synacthen test which was " normal " - no surprises there! You both give me hope that I can feel normal again. I do OK on a day to day basis and get by - but that's all. Some days are better than others - I am always bad around my period and have had a bad crash yesterday and today - leading up to my period. Sorry for going on! Anyway, I have read about stopping thyroid meds before starting adrenal support but am really scared at doing this. Sheila when you mention about starting 1 NAX is that OK to still keep taking my ERFA? Also Sheila, how will I know if I need the DHEA? and do you know where I can buy it from? I'm so sorry, I'm trying to learn as quickly as possible but I do get confused. I've got my head round the thyroid stuff, but not adrenals. at Nutri mentioned Dr Peatfield - Do you think I should think about going to see him? Or is this something I can do on my own? (with your wonderful support) I don't know what I and thousands more would do without TPA - I am eternally grateful. Love and best wishes Kerry x >On the page that opens, scroll down to > 'Discounts on Tests and Supplements' and scroll down that page to 'Nutri > Ltd' document. Guest guest
Hello Kerry I think you can buy Siberian Ginseng still at any good Health Food store, I know my local store sells it and it is quite cheap. I would also speak with the head of the Health Food store and ask him if s/he sells liquorice tincture or an alternative. You must remember also to take high doses of vitamin C - this is essential. Your body will use what it needs, and will excrete what it doesn't, so no fear of overdosing. Take it to bowel tolerance. When starting to take adrenal supplements, it is usually best to stop all thyroid medication for up to 7 days if that is at all possible, or at least, stop for as long as you can, but if things get bad, then start the Erfa thyroid to keep you going. However, take as small a dose of the Erfa as possible. Check out the two attachments. You can buy 25mgs DHEA at www.biovea.com and start taking that with your Nutri Adrenal Extra. DHEA depletes as we get older and needs supplementing. However, it can take up to 3 months to start feeling any effect for some people (with others, it works quickly) so don't get disheartened if you feel nothing for the first few weeks - eventually, you will start to feel good again.
