I experienced itching every time I went up in dose. Only lasted a day or two though. Kristi

Itching is not listed on the list of common bromide detox symptoms. But since we know bromide affects the skin (e.g., acne, another problem I'm experiencing), I wonder if itching could result from high bromide.

It's tempting to blame bromide for any problem, but of course that's not always reasonable. And if you blame the wrong thing you'll never find the real source of the problem.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Itching can be a hypo symptom, have you had thyroid labs lately?

Itching is a classic detox symptom in general. in AlaskaOn Fri, Mar 2, 2012 at 2:38 AM, shimonwimon <@...> wrote:

One way to check if a symptom is a detox symptom is to do the Salt Loading

and see if the symptom fades upon urination starting.

Itching can definitely be a symptom.

Yes, I've had recent thyroid labs and no problems shown. Also, I've never

experienced this kind of overall itchiness in all my years of hypothyroidism. A

good thought, though, thanks.

A good thought, but the itching is episodic, often at night, so not an easy

experiment to do. And I've been taking 1 tsp Celtic salt, plus truly saltaholic

amounts on food. But with a recent loading test bromide of 81.5 mg/24 hours (no

typo), maybe it will take longer to get the level down enough.

I'm also hoping in time the extraordinary lower leg balding will also resolve.

If it's not bromide poisoning, my doc and I are out of ideas, since extensive

serum and saliva hormone testing argues against adrenal or other sex hormone

problems, the only other cause either of us can think of.

Thanks.

I have been really unwell the past 3 days - so much so I have not had my Lugol's or much else.

It hasn't sounded like anyone else's detox.

Unable to sleep for long at night.

Eyes feel very dry (even when they are tearing while I am yawning).

Nauseas.

Brain felt bruised and headachy - feeling much better now.

Tummy is tender and a bit noisy.

Felt like I should sort my will. I don't feel as ill now, but I still might attend to it before I forget about it again.

Skin did not feel itchy in spite of having been very dry for a while now (one of the many reasons I wanted to stick with the Lugol's), but some bruises I do not remember earning.

Has anyone else gone through similar?

Itching can be from a toxic liver. Even if you have cleansed your liver,

you may need to do another cleanse.

Some other thoughts from other sources...

Most of the time, itching indicates nothing more than dryness, so long as it

is not accompanied by a rash. However, if your skin looks normal but feels

uncontrollably itchy, an internal condition may be the cause. Conditions

like liver and kidney problems do not present obvious symptoms in the

earlier stages other than itching skin.

Itching from liver problems is all over the body, increases at night, and is

not relieved by moisturizing, antihistamines or home remedies for dry skin.

This type of whole-body itching could also indicate other internal

conditions like celiac disease, iron deficiency anemia, thyroid problems and

certain cancers, including leukemia and lymphoma.

The uncontrollable itching that comes with liver problems happens when the

liver can no longer perform its job of filtering toxins out of the body. As

the bile and wastes build up in your blood, they make the skin incredibly

itchy, especially at night.

Itching as bromide detox symptom

Have people here experienced itching all over the body and come to the

conclusion it was a bromide detox symptom?

Itching is not listed on the list of common bromide detox symptoms. But

since we know bromide affects the skin (e.g., acne, another problem I'm

experiencing), I wonder if itching could result from high bromide.

It's tempting to blame bromide for any problem, but of course that's not

always reasonable. And if you blame the wrong thing you'll never find the

real source of the problem.

Thanks for any thoughts.

My wife had a lot of itching on her hands to the point where she would scratch

them until they bled when she was sleeping at night. She started eating the

Budwig FOCC muesli in the mornings and her itching went away and never came

back. Iodine plays a huge role in good health but getting healthy oils is also a

part of the health puzzle.

On his blog Dr Jeffery Dach mentions itching here's the link

http://jeffreydach.com/2011/04/06/iodine-is-safe-and-effective-by-jeffrey-dach-m\

d.aspx

Another posible set of adverse reactions relates to the fact that the severely

iodine deficient person may be Bromine toxic, and undergoes rapid Bromine

excretion when starting the Iodine tablets. Bromine is irritating and the

excretion can cause skin itching or rash, nausea and other symptoms. This is

usually transitory and is gone in a few days.
