what you are taking, Iodoral, is the big gun for heavy metal detox. you just arent taking enough. should be at least 50mg, maybe more.

Gracia

I have been taking Iodoral (25 mg.) for about a month, along with the companion nutrients. I just found out that I tested positive (off the charts) for excessive lead and mercury, and to a lesser extent, cadmium, antimony, uranium, and tungsten. I know that the companion nutrients help rid the body of halides, but does anyone know if they can also help with the heavy metal detox? My naturopath gave me a choice of in-office detox using IV DMSA for twelve weeks in a row, or using a less severe method of l.glutathione orally at home. I had the office detox procedure once and I felt like I was dying the next day, it was so awful. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has had success with eliminating heavy metals with the iodine companion nutrients alone? Other suggestions are welcome. My symptoms are extreme fatigue and severe muscle pain. I am also hypothyroid and take dessicated thyroid.thanks,Pam H.

I did oral chelation because my doctor was 2 1/2 hours from my house. I felt horrible when we did the DMPS challenge tests so I wasn't too eager to find a way to do IV Chelation. I took the following:

Heavy Detox (DMSA)

Vit C

Mercuius Viv (Homeopathic)

Cilantro (Dragon River Herbs)

ALA

ChloroClear (Metagenics)

I did this for about 1 year after removing my 11 amalgam fillings.

I was also taking dosages of 50 - 125 mgs of Iodoral during this time for Thyroid Cancer.

What sort of test(s) detected the metals? Blood tests?

We did hair test and DMPS Challenges plus I had 11 amalgam fillings and a mercury tattoo on my gum line. We *knew* I was toxic.

Pam H.,

How many mg of DMSA did your doctor use in the IV chelation?

My son had IV chelation 3 or 4 times and never said anything about how he felt

afterward. The challenge tests after the chelation showed excretion, but

nothing like when he did the DMPS challenge test. I was wondering why he

changed the chelation agent, never got an answer from him.

Becky,

I am not sure, but I think about 250 mg of DMSA(or is it dmps?). Since I had such a strong reaction the day after, I asked my ND. to find out if the dose could be cut in half, and she came back with a yes answer. But I still haven’t decided to go ahead with the IV injections for 12 months. It scares me.

,Downloaded your book. Very well written and very informative. One question; why did you not include reference to Vit E asoutlined in Adele 's Book " Let's Get well" ?Because it is so important for the uptake of iodine? Here is the extract for your consideration:If vitamin E is deficient, the absorption of iodine by the

thyroid decreases to 5 % if normal. Because the glands, attempting to

compensate for the deficiency, may become overactive or toxic, anyone with

hyperthyroidism should take generous amounts of Vit E over a prolonged period. Giving adults 500

mgs daily has caused their thyroids to absorb twice as much iodine and the

protein bound iodine in their blood has increased to normal.

A high protein diet speeds the activity of a sluggish

thyroid glands by supplying the amino acid thyrosine, from which the thyroid

hormone is made. Tyrosine however, cannot be used without Vitamins B6 and C nor

can the hormone be made without choline. Thyroxin is inactivated by oxygen if

Vit C is undersupplied or destroyed.Best wishes, david From: ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...> iodine Sent: Sunday, 18 December 2011, 13:45 Subject: Re: iodine and heavy metals positive test

I am not familiar with this. Just because she says it is true doesn't mean it is (not to say it isn't). I would need to research it further before I "put my name on it". There is more that I may put into this guide but I am also working on a book about thyroid glands as it relates to thyroid cancer so this guide isn't going to go into details like this. It is just the basic principles of iodine supplementing - not a thyroid manual.

,Assuming it is true it would be very important surely?I don't know how familiar you are with her work but she was very much in the health campand very critical of Pharma et al.She provides 56 pages of research in one of her books "Lets Get Well".Versafz,F. My father (a chiropractor) had her books. I just have not spend time reading them. It may be valid information but as I said I am working on a book on thyroid cancer and will check into it. Vit A also has key roles in iodine absorption and I don't have information about that either. The core information is contained in the supplement guide and is what most need to get going - that is its purpose.
