Guest guest
put my answers in redkassiaDo you have a Christmas Tree?yes If you do is it real or fake?fake but we might aim for a real one next year but i am still a sucker for a white treeWhen do you usually decorate it? either thanksgiving or first week of december depending on when dh is home to it with usDo you have any Christmas traditions? some yesIf you do what are they?make sure at least the 3 of us are together to do the tree and house, we watch our favorite movies and we also leave the lights on the christmas tree all night christmas eve for santa to see, i leave on the tbs 24 hour christmas story. some of our favorites are of course christmas story, national lampoon's christmas vacation all those old tv specials like rudoplh and the year without santa and of course charlie brown's christmas. viola is also big on nickelodeon's shows holiday specials. dh and i do our presents the on christmas eve when viola goes to sleep and usually we let her open one gift. this year it was her holiday barbie. it was last years but she didn't notice nor care LOL we always put out our little figures for decorations. this year he found a nice stable for my nativity figurines so i have the complete deal now. i also have a few of his grandmother's things some knick knacks and her holiday table clothes, they all go out it doesn't seem decorated without them. and we do the milk and cookies for santa as well. What did you have for Christmas supper?it varies year to year depending on if we are entertaining, going somewhere else, or what pops into our head at the time. but this year i made a half fresh bone in ham with my own glaze, roasted red potatoes, green bean casserole, crossiants, and saute spincah with chopped garlic. this morning i gave cinnamon buns from scratch a try and they turned out tasty but they didn't rise hugely but not to shabby for a first try. that turned out to be breakfast, snack and dessert for dh LOL. Guest guest
Do you have a Christmas Tree? Yes, but its technically two broken trees we blended together to make one sad tree. We need a new one. If you do is it real or fake? Fake. When do you usually decorate it? Usually a few days after Thanksgiving. Because of the nature of the tree I don't take it down, I just carry it into the garage. So ghetto! Ha! Do you have any Christmas traditions? Sometimes we have fried Chinese appetizers Christmas eve and champagne. We also usually open one gift. We didn't do that this year. We also watch at least one Christmas movie. We watched " Scrooged " . If you do what are they? The Chinese appetizers stem from when I was a kid. It was the only place open Christmas Eve and my Dad usually got home very late. What did you have for Christmas supper? Honey Baked Ham and Turkey along with mac and cheese, sweet potato souffle and green bean casserole. We also had rolls and a relish tray. I ordered dinner pre-made form Honey Baked Ham because of Terry's work schedule this year and because I haven't had a Honey Baked Ham in a few years and it is my favorite! I stood inline for an hour and half in 34 degree weather yesterday (some sleet and heavy wind) to get that ham. Guest guest
WOW, you do have A LOT of traditions! That's cool about the BIL's, do the Chinese girls know each other? I just remembered another tradition. When Hallmark first came out with their musical snowman we bought one and we have every year since. We put them out on the coffee table etc... in the front room, we have several. This year Hallmark didn't have a snowman, they had snoopy and the bird (forgot his name UGH!) It's cute but I miss my snowman! Guest guest
I"m late on this but here are my answers! Hi Everyone, I hope that ALL of you had a very Merry Christmas (if you are Christians or a nice week/weekend if you are not a Christian.) I thought it may be fun to find out how you/everyone celebrates Christmas so I have a few questions for you, feel free to answer or not (bah-hum-bug! LOL)Do you have a Christmas Tree? - Yes If you do is it real or fake? - Fake, pre-lit, too! We have had real ones but too many mishaps - tree stand breaking, etc. When do you usually decorate it? Thanksgiving weekend Do you have any Christmas traditions? Yes If you do what are they? We go to a candlelight church service on Xmas eve, we open presents Xmas morning, we bake cookies and other holiday sweets, we watch Scrooge and A Christmas Story - and this year we still need to get Christmas Vacation in! This year we went to see The Nutcracker, but DD and DH didn't enjoy it very much so not likely to be a new tradition! What did you have for Christmas supper? We had roast beef w/ bleu cheese sauce, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, green beans, salad, rolls and cheesecakeYou don't have to answer but I got to thinking it might be cool to see how people celebrate the holiday. I would like to find out how people in other countries celebrate it but I don't know how to do that. Oh - you can check out lots of books in the library about different holiday traditions. In fact, for my DD I got her a series of books called "Kids Around the World.. Celebrate, Cook, Play, Create - the series of books has crafts, recipes, games, food from other countries. This summer one of the camps my daughter went to was "culture" camp where for two weeks they cooked, played games and made crafts from different cultures/countries - it was her favorite camp as each day they visited a new country and made passports, etc.If you can think of other questions about the Christmas holiday please add to my list. Here are my answers:Do you have a Christmas Tree?YesIf you do is it real or fake?Real, of course!
