Unless you can prove this from a substantiated source (I've seen the book you reference, and it cites nothing but other unsubstantiated sources: no research has gone into its claims.), I've no reason to doubt the fundamental chemistry of mineral absorption in the gut. Guest guest
Jahjet, For a little over 20 years I have used only distilled water to make kt. So it is definitely all right to use in that respect. However drinking it is not something I would ever try. As an aside, the local vet advised me to use distilled water for neutered male cats if they gave any tendency toward urinary problems. Peace. Guest guest
I have read that it is okay to drink 1-2 glasses distilled water first thing in the morning (only) to help eliminate toxins, but then no more because of pulling needed minerals from one's body. As for KT it should just " pull harder " at all the good stuff in the tea--the water would no longer be distilled at that point. Guest guest
Jahjet, I don't distill mine, just store bought. As I said before, I have never even tasted distilled water. I have a Pur? filter but do not trust it to filter out the nasty things they put in the town drinking water (to make it safe).
Guest guest
The Synergy created between green tea and lycopene & beta carotene found in Papayas, is a powerful cancerfighter, reactive to free radicals. Brewing Kombucha with Papaya leaves and green tea, is beneficial:)) Distilled water could provide less variables to deal with in the brew.. Guest guest
I have been looking on line and in stores for pure distilled water. i need it for making my Lugol's iodine. Where can I get it without additives or if any of you make your own do you just use bottled distill water with additives. Need to know ASAP to make my Lugol's iodine before going to Canada on Friday. And for those who make your own Lugol's iodine how long does in all sit in the bottle before I can start using it. If I read the Q and A email I got I start at 1 drop in a glass of liquid and increase by 1 drop up to 16 drops by week 16. I can be pretty dense due to having had Lyme disease brain damage and everything has to be explained completely. What may be easy for you to understand is not the same for me so if I ask a bunch of questions in the next few weeks please be patient with me. I get easily frustrated and sometimes feel stupid when I cannot understand stuff but i am trying. Thank you ahead of time and merry Christmas. Guest guest
Hi Rae, I have a little water distiller that I bought a few years ago that makes a gallon of distilled water at a time. (This takes about 4 or 6 hours). You can also buy distilled water at most stores. I don't think additives are added to distilled water that they sell, but of course it is always best to read the ingredients on the bottle. I don’t make my own Lugol's, so I am sorry I cannot speak to your question about that. There is not set in stone way to begin starting Lugol's...some people start slowly and work their way up to higher doses, while others start at a high dose. It is purely a personal thing how you do it. Please make sure you are taking the companion nutrients talked about in the New Member doc. Guest guest
Rae: virtually every large grocery story (and Walmart, Target, etc) will have distilled water, labelled as such to distinguish it from spring water and drinking water -- it's typically sold in plastic jugs like milk, by the gallon, and will probably cost a dollar or two per gallon. By definition, distilled water has no additives at all: distillation is a process of heating water til it steams, then the steam is captured and recondensed. Accordingly, it should have no mineral or chemical content beyond the basic structural elements of hydrogen and oxygen. When you mix your Lugol's put the distilled water and potassium iodide in the jar together and stir; the KI will dissolve readily to a clear fluid. Use (best choice) a glass rod or spoon for stirring; second-best choice would be clean wood, like an unused popsicle stick. Don't use steel, especially don't use aluminum, and plastic isn't a great choice because it will probably discolor permanently. Once the KI has dissolved, add the iodine crystals and stir again for a few minutes. Most of the iodine crystals will dissolve, but a few won't. Cap the jar (if it is a metal lid be SURE to put a piece of waxed paper (not saran or plastic wrap) between the lid and the jar contents). Leave overnight & stir again. Ready to use. (May take a day or two longer for the largest crystals to completely dissolve, but the effect on basic solution strength is probably negligible.) Put an ounce or so in a dropper bottle for daily use, store the larger amount in a cool, dark place. For choice the storage container should be amber glass, but the world won't end if it isn't. Do keep the solution away from any contact with metal, including vapor from the solution itself--hence the waxed paper shield during long-term storage. Remember, if you're travelling by air, there are strict limits on the amount of liquids you can carry on with you -- and if it's in your packed luggage, triple-bag the bottle, because iodine stains like a bugger. Regards, Megaera > > I have been looking on line and in stores for pure distilled water. i need it for making my Lugol's iodine. Guest guest
Yes I am taking the vitamins and gagging due to the GP but still getting them down. When I get old I know they will be crushing my pills and mixing in jam but for now I have to get passed swallowing them . I checked all the web site of different distilled water companies and they state most put 1 to 5 different additives in the water and one of them is fluoride. Poland spring is one of them that adds 5. Those tiny water distillers are about $189.00 which is more then I would want to spend right now with the possible job loss. Could I still use that distilled water with the additives. I have been checking labels but still not one without the additives which is very frustrating. Thanks rae From: Kathleen Blake <kathleenblake@...> iodine Sent: Saturday, December 17, 2011 7:36 PM Subject: Re: distilled water Hi Rae, I have a little water distiller that I bought a few years ago that makes a gallon of distilled water at a time. Best, Kathleen moderator distilled water I have been looking on line and in stores for pure distilled water. i need it for making my Lugol's iodine. Guest guest
Thanks. I only have a tops market here in my area and they don't have a big selection of distilled water but they just a Super Walmart in Niagara Falls NY near where I work and will check that out. So if the distilling company adds say something like fluoride then your saying it would be on the label. Cool because so far I only found a couple and it had stuff other then just the water. Do I keep the rest of the Lugol's in the fridge . Also I have a glass quart jar and the plastic lid to my mayo bottle fits perfect. Could I use that lid . I could tape a dark masking tape to the outside of the jar to give it the dark color it needs to keep it protected from light. I have a bunch of canning jars in quart size . On the video he used just a canning jar. Could i use like a chop stick or unused painter's stick to stir it. I also have a glass salad fork i could use that to. By the way I will be driving. I have never flown and he#@ would literally freeze over before I fly. I am a true chicken at heart. Hugs and thanks Rae From: Megaera3 <megaera3@...> iodine Sent: Saturday, December 17, 2011 7:54 PM Subject: Re: distilled water Rae: virtually every large grocery story (and Walmart, Target, etc) will have distilled water, labelled as such to distinguish it from spring water and drinking water -- it's typically sold in plastic jugs like milk, by the gallon, and will probably cost a dollar or two per gallon. Guest guest
Hi I actually found some at my Walmart for .83 a gallon. So should we drink this type of water too. We have spring water at work but Poland waters at work and it says online that they add additives. Can I still drink that and the iodine start do its job. Guest guest
If you are flying, I'm not sure putting iodine in your stowed luggage would be a good idea in case the bottle freezes or the air pressure makes in rupture. I just remember what happened to hand lotion in my son's luggage. But then he was flying farther than you are! Lugol's is actually easier to get in Canada than in the US (I live in Canada). But I make my own. Jaye > > Yes  I am taking the vitamins and gagging due to the GP but still getting them down. Guest guest
I ordered all the stuff to make my own. Should be here by the 20th. I am driving not flying. Flying is what birds do so i am not going on any plane if I don't need to.
