Guest guest
Hi Art and Tim, I was living in Dallas when I had my second surgery for Achalasia. I was actually diagnosised when I was 17 and have been " going through this for a long time " . There are several people on this board from the great country of Texas (we know its a nation of its own...LOL) so post away and I am sure you will find some great help. Oh and there is also the chat room, although finding someone in there is sometimes a challenge. JC

Guest guest
, You may want to seriously consider another surgeon altogether, unless Dr. Katz has substantial experience with hellers. With one already under your belt that didn't work, I'd want to be sure I had the very best before going in again. Are you anywhere near any of the surgeons mentioned repeatedly on this site by others? I hope you find relief soon. What remains to decide, if you are going to have the H.M. is if it will be performed by Dr. Katz or another surgeon. In a message dated 6/4/2006 10:16:55 P.M. Guest guest
, What kind of work do you do??? Are you planning on working during your trial??,, If its in an office you might be able to so. Plan on getting bathing items such as no rinse shampoo and moist clothes that you warm in microwave.. You wont be able to shower during the trial. You wont be able to do any bending or twisting. I made sure everything I would need was on higher shelves, then hubby kept my sodas stocked on top shelf of fridge,,Alot of people use the grabbers to pick stuff up that the drop or need... Guest guest
Something else I keep forgetting when I respond to people about the trial and recovery from the perm scs, you can't lift your arms over your head at all......it can cause the leads to shift.......You are a brave person to continue working during your trial. If I hadn't already been out on disability and was still working, I think I would have gotten so caught up in my job I would have forgotten and probably messed up my trial. You just don't realize how much bending/twisting/reaching you do in an average day without even thinking about it. But since you can't bathe at least you'll be able to use the warming wipes for " batheing " and the rinse free shampoo. Could you imagine going a week and not washing your hair or cleaning up at all??? Guest guest
, You might want to pick up some " no rinse shampoo " ... you wont be able to bend over to even wash hair in sink,,,you should be able to get everything at Walgreen's... I was able to sleep in my bed,, but I had a Craftmatic bed,, so I slept at an incline. I'm not real sure how it would feel laying flat. someone else might be able to help you with that,, There should be no reason why you couldn't lay flat, problem on your side. Just make sure your don't bend, twist or reach over your head. The leads can move very easy.During mine I went shopping, I had not been able to walk though stores for so long. It was awesome!!! Guest guest
That was in my instructions when I was released......I had to lay at a certain degree angle.......could NOT lay flat. I don't remember what it was and don't have the paperwork anymore. But I also have an electric adjustable bed so it wasn't a problem other than we just " eye-balled " the bed for the angle. lol!!!! And I don't remember why I was told I could not lay flat or for how long I couldn't. But I never lay flat anyway because it causes my upper back to start hurting. But if you're told you can't lay flat, they sell at WalMart/Target the wedge (looks like a long triangle) that you can put under your pillows. A friend did that when she got her stim. Guest guest
That's a good idea since you have long hair.....french braids. I would never have thought about that. But my hair isn't long enough and is way too thin, it wouldn't have worked for me. But that would probably work for a week. It's been a little over 2 years since I got my permanent scs, and it's amazing how much I've forgotten about what we could and couldn't do. Seems I've had it a lot longer. But I did just remember I couldn't lay flat; and I can't remember if it was with the temp or both. I think just the trial. Here are a couple of sites to look at and hopefully your husband can read them. www.homefirst.com will be having a Free vaccine webinar coming up and you can go to that website to watch.. ONce you attend the webinar he will send you a coupon to buy his book for $10. Sign up for his emails. Guest guest
Ask your husband if he would be willing to ask your doctor if the doctor would be willing to sign a vaccination guarantee. The paper will state that no harm will come to the baby if vaccinated and that the vaccine will prevent any and all diseases vaccinated for. Certainly that is fair enough isn't it? We will be glad to provide such a document. Guest guest
I tried the mother's instinct reason with my other half - it infuriated him, as if fathers lack one of their own. My best sales pitch was to show him the CDC vax charts now versus when we were babies 30 years ago. Then I showed him the division E legislation by senator frist, about how pharma was all protected from anything & everything. I didn't mention autism until he agreed with me to not vax DD. Once he understood the special interest/lobbying aspect of the biz, how previous vaxes like DPT & rotashield were pulled, he piqued an interest. He still drives me nuts, tho - after watching both 'shoot 'em up' movies he says there wasn't enough pro-vax info in the movies. He thinks I obsess over vaxes because I enjoy reading about it. He even has a cousin that instantly (hours to a day) regressed at age 3 from mmr (says his aunt, the mother). He says it's plausible but I can tell he's not sold on the idea that the link exists. Grrrrrrrr so frustrating. Good luck to you. Do your best to provide him with sensible, common sense facts about how corrupt vaxes are. Many a reputable MD have turned their faces against them - that's also worth noting. You have a fantastic mother's instinct, by the way. Good luck.
