My 29 year old neice was just diagnosed with lupus and CREST, two auto-immune

diseases. She is a teacher and has missed a whole month of work because of

debilitating fatigue. She also has Hashi's (found out about two years ago). I

do not know what she is taking for her thyroid, but I am wondering if anyone on

this list knows someone with lupus or CREST who has benefited from iodine? I

I know that she should try iodine for her Hashi's, but I have not read here

if it may also help lupus or CREST.

thanks,

Pam H.

Sorry to hear that, have you considered ldn? Perhaps you could join their list

too. It helps the immune system. All the best. .

Pam and ,

I started reading the book " Wheat Belly " by Dr. , MD this week, and

I'm beginning to suspect that the reason that LDN works so well is that it's

blocking the attack on the brain from gluten breakdown by-products which have

been shown to be capable of crossing the BBB (blood brain barrier) and of

cross-reacting with brain tissues. I wish I could explain it better, but I've

just discovered this concept late last night before falling asleep, so I'm not

as well versed in it yet as I hope to be after I've had a chance to re-read that

section a few more times.

Nevertheless, anything that LDN helps might be even better helped by a gluten

free diet -- or at least I think that that's what the author is saying. The

whole concept totally blew me away, and I hope I'm not misquoting it too much.

It really grabbed my attention and resonated with other ideas that I learned

about gluten at the Gluten Truth Conf. held in Dallas, TX last month.

Sorry, I cannot give you the page number because I'm reading the electronic

version on an older Kindle, so it doesn't sync with page numbers in the printed

text version of the book.

Here's a link to reviews of the " Wheat Belly " book on Amazon.

This book is so well written that it's no surprise that it has so many reviews

and high ratings even though it's still so new that it's not even out in

paperback version yet. (That's why I chose the electronic version because

e-versions are cheaper than hardcopies.) It's a real page turner. I can hardly

put it down.

Oh, before I forget, the author (an MD) mentions RA and lupus also in relation

to wheat and gluten intolerance. I'm not sure about CREST. If I knew how to

operate the Kindle a little better, I could search for those quotes, but alas,

alack, I'm still a Kindle novice with very inadequate Kindle search skills.
