what type of magnesium? for example 400mg of oxide gives 16mg of usable magnesium.Try the topical magnesium chloride spray on.and likely you need calcium at least 800 mg citrate.should notice the difference in 2- 3 days. From: Cheryl <cherylblack522@...> iodine Sent: Tuesday, 6 December 2011,

I have been on the Iodine protocol since July 1, taking 100 mg a day since September (and doing great!).

In recent weeks I have had leg cramps during the night. I know this is often a sign of magnesium deficiency, but I have been taking 400 mg/day of magnesium.

Also in recent weeks I have been using "MI paste" which is a topical tooth treatment to promote remineralization. It contains calcium phosphate. I have wondered if this extra calcium is somehow using up more magnesium than usual.

Do I need to increase my magnesium? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

I could have written part of your post :). Last week I started getting a bit of restless leg syndrome and foot cramps - things that I use to get before switching to real salt, bone broth, and sometimes concentrace, magnesium and other changes. They completely went away very shortly after adding lots of real salt to my diet several years ago and I hadn't had them since (except once when I was sick with fever several days).

I was actually going to post a question if maybe too much selenium might interfere with mineral absorption since I'm taking 400 selenium. I'm on companion nutrients but haven't started iodine yet. Anyway, I started drinking a glass of water at bedtime with lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon real salt and I backed down to 200 selenium. The symptoms went away quickly. I also started adding concentrace to my scrambled eggs (but not very much if I'm being honest!).

Minerals or magnesium? I'm not sure what was causing my symptoms <shrug>

Oh, as an alternative to the MI paste we use Tooth Swish just in case you're looking for something without the additives (I was recommended MI paste by my dentist but found this other and then he ended up also carrying Tooth Swish). http://tinyurl.com/c2tbbpm

I think my magnesium is okay, but I've gotten a bit lax on getting my salt every

day. I'll do better and hope that's the answer :)

Thanks everyone.
