Guest guest
Has anyone had improved eyesight after taking iodine? I'm sorry if this question has been asked before I've not noticed it before. I recently noticed that my eyesight at night is much better, I don't see halos around lights as much as I had been seeing. I have cataracts and night driving has been a real big issue for me but recently I can see clearly. Louise

Guest guest
I've been off and on iodine for years but recently on 75 mg steady for one month now. I just started to notice it recently like two days ago when I as out at night and didn't see huge halos. I actually don't drive at night and forget it if it rains, even at home with the lights turned out I can't see. I'll have to test if I can see better with the lights turned out at home. It's really awful isn't it? How much are you taking? Guest guest
Cataracts are typically the accumulation of AGEs (advanced glycation endproducts) which are proteins damaged by sugars. It makes sense that in diabetes cataracts are very common, also they are somewhat common with folks that have other forms of glucose intolerance (insulin resistance). With that in mind some of the research on iodine points to improvements in blood glucose control. This would imply that the body is able to rid of some of the AGEs accumulated in the eye. It would not surprise me, but I don't know much about the subject. > > Hi Louise, > I have had a small improvement - but not as outstanding as the one when I started taking folic acid. Guest guest
I've been working on lowering glucose for years. I have yet to get it totally under control but it's slowly coming down. I quit eating sugar 25 years ago, eat a paleo diet and still have a hard time getting my insulin resistance under control. I must have a very suborn case of it. I'm hoping that Iodine is going to help balance out everything. My BS is staying in the 80's now and sometimes goes into the 70's but there are days where I wake up with a FBS of 92 which I know can be my LC diet. I'm doing a leptin reset diet now hoping to get things more under control. Guest guest
I had the cataract surgery where they replace your lens with an artificial one. When they do that they also correct for any near/far sightedness. The results from this now routine surgery are amazing. If your cataracts persist despite your efforts you might want to look into having the surgery. Guest guest
Hi Louise: I hope you get your BS's down and if the Iodine works as good for you, as it did for me, it should. I was off Diabetes Meds within 8 weeks and that is when I reached 50 mg. going slowly with one additional drop each week. So it took me 8 weeks to get to 8 drops daily of the 5%. Diabetes is a terrible condition which I had for 13 years. Even though I was able to have good control, I still got nerve damage (Neuropathy) in one foot. The ends of the toes were always sensitive and sore and that is all gone now. Guest guest
I don't think I've ever had my insulin checked. I live in a BACKWARD little village in Ontario and there are things that are never done in blood work that I have objected to many times and gotten into trouble for shooting my mouth off. No one knows what RT3 is and I called around and could not find a LAB within a hundred miles that does it. Isn't that pathetic? Just the other day I took a chance and told my doctor that I was taking Iodine and now off my Meds and she said," Iodine is only used for Thyroid Cancer". Guest guest
Did you have Crystalens? I went in about 9 years ago to have this done but never followed through with it. Now we don't have insurance that would pay for half of the procedure but I think prices have come down since then. My husband got laid off 4 months ago and just recently got another job but without insurance. I hate to spend the money for fear he'll be out of work again. I'm an artist and depend a lot on my eyesight, I know one day I will have to have the surgery.LouiseOn Dec 5, 2011, at 6:59 PM, Mark wrote: I had the cataract surgery where they replace your lens with an artificial one. Guest guest
At what level were you on, with the Iodine when your Blood Glucose got under control? I am at 75 mg.. I only have High Blood Glucose in the mornings (highest was 130 but will range from 100 to 130). I was told this could be due to adrenals? I have just started on Cytozyme AD for the Adrenals. Started with 2, 3 x daily but by day 4 was full of nervous energy at bedtime. Reduced it to 2 in the am and 1 at lunch and 1 at dinner. Have not seen a change yet in the Blood Glucose however. Any other suggestions for High AM Blood Glucose and is the iodine amount I take enough to help? > >> > >> Hi Louise, > >> I have had > a small improvement - but not as outstanding as the one when I started taking > folic acid. Last night I had to drive in the dark and wore a pair of NIGHT DRIVING GLASSES and that made a big difference and took away the panic about not seeing well. You should try it. Thanks Bonnie, I hear you about BS it seems to be harder for some of us. I'm really happy to hear that you are no longer diabetic but sorry to hear about the nerve damage. I'm very hopeful taking iodine and getting good results, I see BS going down slowly I still have fluctuations but for the more part it's a lot lower than it was. Good luck, Bonnie From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of Louise HillSent: December 5, 2011 2:00 PMiodine Subject: Re: Re: eyesight improvement? I've been working on lowering glucose for years. I have yet to get it totally under control but it's slowly coming down. I quit eating sugar 25 years ago, eat a paleo diet and still have a hard time getting my insulin resistance under control. I must have a very suborn case of it. I'm hoping that Iodine is going to help balance out everything. My BS is staying in the 80's now and sometimes goes into the 70's but there are days where I wake up with a FBS of 92 which I know can be my LC diet. I'm doing a leptin reset diet now hoping to get things more under control. It would not surprise me, but I don't know much about the subject.>> Hi Louise,> I have had a small improvement - but not as outstanding as the one when I started taking folic acid. Guest guest
I got my Glusose levels under control at 50 mg. Any other suggestions for High AM Blood Glucose and is the iodine amount I take enough to help?> >>> >> Hi Louise,> >> I have had > a small improvement - but not as outstanding as the one when I started taking > folic acid. Guest guest
?? I don't think iodine is used for thyroid cancer although it should be! she must be referring to radioactive iodine to kill the thyroid gland. I live in the woods of rural Maine. my doc doesn't say a peep when I mention iodine but I am sure she thinks I am "out there". Gracia I don't think I've ever had my insulin checked. Now what am I SUPPOSED TO DO to deal with this BS? My hands are tied. Bonnie noticed it before.
