Guest guest
I had recent labs done and my RT3 has doubled since May. I did Dr. Brownstein's TLC liver cleanse for one month in between testings and not sure why my levels have gone up. The only thing I added was 30 mcg Cytomel to the Levoxyl 125 mcg I take (allergic to dessicated thyroid). My iron levels are fine (45% saturation). I also take 50 mg of Iodoral along with companion nutrients and sea salt. I do not want to do the T3 only regimen. Can someone please comment? Should I be doing more liver support or another cleanse? I also took Pure Encapsulations Liver/GI detox supplement after doing the TLC cleanse. Here are my labs from May 2011: RT3 147 range 90-350 FT3 2.1 range 2.0-4.4 labs from November 4, 2011 TSH .005 range .45-4.50 FT4 1.57 range .82-1.77 FT3 4.0 range 2.0-4.4 RT3 310 range 90-350 Thank you. Guest guest
High RT3 isn't only related to the liver it can be one of the following: 1. High Cortisol 2. High Stress levels 3. Poor Diet So if you something else going on the liver support alone will not reduce RT3. Buist, ND HC can someone tell me why my RT3 levels doubled? Guest guest
RT3 " doubled " because you took Cytomel T3 and your FT3 " doubled " ; in response, the FT3/RT3 ratio somehow decreased to 12.9. ( Ideally that ratio should be about 20, or more. ) Why did adding Cytomel increase RT3? ... Because then the Levoxyl T4 didn't need to transform as much into T3, so it became RT3 instead, in order to hold your metabolism " steady " . (With a steady FT3/RT3 ratio.) Why did the FT3/RT3 ratio then decrease? ... " Stress " of some sort -- could be the weather; or the shorter days; could be Daylight Savings Time; or just about anything -- (even " lab error " ). Bill ___ FT3 2.1 range 2.0-4.4 RT3 147 range 90-350 ....... FT3/RT3 = 14.9 ___ FT3 4.0 range 2.0-4.4 RT3 310 range 90-350 ....... FT3/RT3 = 12.9 --- At 07:07 AM 20, 11 2011, koonk wrote: > >I had recent labs done and my RT3 has doubled since May. Guest guest
My iron and ferritin levels are fine. Ferritin was 124 (range 13-150), TIBC 291 (150-375) UIBC 161 (150-375) Iron 130 35-155) and 45% saturation. I am currently on 22.5 mg of hydrocortisone in divided doses throughout the day. > > > ** > > > > > > I had recent labs done and my RT3 has doubled since May. Guest guest
Hi, : I am currently taking 22.5 mg of hydrocortisone in divided doses throughout the day. My stress level is very high as I am a full-time acupuncture student. I try to exercise moderately to deal with that. My diet is the best it's ever been (gluten free, mainly organic fruits, vegetables, meats, good fats of organic coconut oil, olive oil or homemade ghee). Any suggestions as to what I should do to improve the RT3 given the above information? Laurie > > High RT3 isn't only related to the liver it can be one of the following: > > 1. High Cortisol > 2. Guest guest
Thanks, Bill. Your explanation helps. Just not sure what to do about it as the stressor I am undergoing (full-time acupuncture student) will not end for three years. I try to exercise to deal with it, but obviously it's not working. Not sure what else to do about it. Laurie > > > >I had recent labs done and my RT3 has doubled since May. Guest guest
Stress is *not* what goes on in our lives, it's what we do with it.What about being a full time student in a path you (presumably) love is stressful? When I was in that position, I was happy, relaxed - yes, working hard - I was a pre-med student with 24 hour classload and a 4.0 avg. But life was good. What can you do to change your reaction to things? Meditation, affirmation, a study-buddy? More iodine, more magnesium? What's bothering you?-- Peace . . .
