Guest guest
I get hot all the time too - I'm either freeze or boiling. It's not a new thing as I was like this before I started any treatment, I've always been hot stuff .I have often wondered if my dose needs adjusting but when I have tried that I just get loads of hypo symptoms back so I'd sooner put up with the heat. The odd thing is I can be absolutely roasting, flushed and sweating and my temp can still be 35.6. I don't think it's my adrenals as I don't have any of those symptoms since increasing my NDT. As far as I know it not the menopause either, I'm 42 so it could be, but I don't have any symptoms of that either.I think that I'm just hot naturally!I was interested in what you said about being hyper and remaining hypo Sally do you have any other info about this that you could share with us hotties?Dawn M From: Sally Jarvis <wollertonbank@...> "thyroid treatment " <thyroid treatment > Sent: Friday, 2 December 2011, 23:10 Subject: Re: hot To bring things under control you need to concentrate on supporting your adrenal glands and that may include DHEA rather than an individual sex hormone the DHEA will convert to whichever hormone is deficient. Also vitamins and minerals to support the adrenal glands. [Ed]
Guest guest
Hi ,I only read this after posting from Sally's reply - this is most interesting as that makes a lot of sense to me, except for the thrush as I don't get that, but what I do get is palpitations and very hot after I eat carbs, especially bread and sweet things which I love. I'm about to go back on a low carb diet as I feel better on low carb but I can't keep it up for longer than a couple of months at a time and then I have to give in to the cravings. Thanks for sharing that with us,Dawn M From: chicks_have_flown <julie@...> To: thyroid treatment Sent: Friday, 2 December 2011, 20:20 Subject: Re: hot " If foods are fermented then there is a release of heat and this may explain s constant feeling of being uncomfortably hot. A comparison can be drawn with ruminants such as horses and cattle who rely on fermentation for digestion of grasses. This generates large amounts of heat and indeed these animals run a body temperature three or four degree's higher than that of humans. This illustrates the power of gut fermentation to generate heat. 's symptoms of recurrent mild thrush again would square with a fermenting gut because of yeast".... Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Sally will probably get back to you on this but just wanted to say yes, you can be hyperthyroid with hypothyroidism symptoms and vice-versa. Some patients actually have both Hashimoto's and Graves' disease antibodies (have you been tested to see whether you have these specific antibodies?), which puts the thyroid into a push-pull situation, where it cycles up and down through hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. This is not a very common situation, but hypothyroidism patients who frequently have hyperthyroidism symptoms should ask their doctors for full antibody profiles to detect the presence of both Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease. See http://thyroid.about.com/cs/hypothyroidism/a/hypoandhyper_2.htm Luv - Sheila I get hot all the time too - I'm either freeze or boiling. Guest guest
Dawn, if you have Hashimoto's disease, you would do much better on a gluten free diet - this could be your problem. You should read Dr Datis Kharrazian's Book " Why do I still have thyroid symptoms when my thyroid function tests are 'normal'. We have a copy in the TPA Lending Library which I will send out to you if you wish. Just send me your name, address and stamps to the value of £2.80 and I will send it off to you. It is a terrific book and you will learn a lot about your condition. Guest guest
Hi every one thanks for all your help i was at a funeral yesterday so i have only just read your advice. I was thinking maybe it could be Hypo /hyper because of the heat symptom. I realise about the food fermenting and know that can cause heat, but this seems to happen continually. I was thinking it might be too much medication that is why i asked as it has been a long time many months in fact. I did us e to take zinc and selenium and nutri adrenal but i stopped a while ag o as things were a bit tight. I switch between 4 and 4 1/2 grains of erfa as sometime i feel a bit tired. I am thinking of going down to 3 1/2 to see how things go. Do you think i should start taking nutr i selenium and zinc again. What is Ndh? My practice nurse does my test every 6 months. Just the normal one unless i ask for something special and every thing is normal. Ihave just had all my test done, cholestrol, thyroid, blood pressure, the usual test they do. Regard s the menapause i had hrt patches for this mostly for mood swings the n terrible sweats but this is just heat then it seems to reach a peek then i will cool slightly but i still remain hot even on the coldest nights and days even if i wear only light clothing. i am 63 now and all menopause symptoms have gone ..
