Guest guest
The iodine-literate naturopathic MD that is closest to me (Dr. Lee, an hour away, in Leesburg VA - He is on the list of iodine-literate practitioners) told me in an email that if I have cells suspicious for papillary thyroid carcinoma, then I need to have the thyroidectomy because " getting out the tumor load is important " . Any comments? I have read Drs. Flechas, Brownstein, Abraham, Dach, Derry, etc., but I haven't found ANY reports of thyroid cancer being cured or reversed in anyone by taking iodine. Breast cancer yes, thyroid cancer no. Has anyone actually had regression of his/her thyroid cancer using iodine without surgery? I have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Lee on Dec 16. Guest guest
I was also scared into thinking I had papillary thyroid cancer and almost had surgery. Fortunately, I got pneumonia and had to postpone my surgery. While I was recovering I discovered that the Cleveland Clinic recommends NOT to have surgery if your cancer (if it is cancer at all) has not spread to any nodes. I got sick after spending two hours in the hospital having node biopsies taken--they were negative. In spite of this the surgeon was anxious to remove my thyroid, even though she admitted to me that they could not definitively diagnose cancer unless they first removed the thyroid and then sectioned it histologically (I used to be an histologist). I fired my endocrinologist as I wasn't interested in paying her $30 to argue with her. I started taking Iodine and worked up to 50mg a day, with supporting supplements. Since that time my goiter (nodule) has become much smaller. Granted, there might still be something there, and I will follow it and have another ultrasound in 6 months or so. All my biopsies " suggested " papillary thyroid cancer. I prefer to take charge of my health and eat properly (recently discovered I was sensitive to gluten) and try to find the cause of my autoimmune problems, rather than just ripping out my thyroid. From what I have read on the " Thyroidless " group, they have just as many or more problems after removing the thyroid. From what I know about hospitals and the current state of medicine, I feel it is much more risky for me to have surgery, especially at my age (71). There aren't a lot of people who die from papillary thyroid cancer. They usually die of something else. Doctors often lie and are not up-to-date. They do only what they have been trained to do and are afraid of being sued if they miss a case of cancer. I think only 5% of such cases are actually cancer. Most are benign. Also, the medical establishment gets after them if they get out of line and don't follow recommended procedures. It was also recommended that I get RAI after surgery. I researched that enough to know that what they were telling me was a pack of lies. They were withholding more information than they gave me. Never RAI! Hold fast and take charge of your health. Even IF it might be cancer, it is a very slow-growing type.
