Hi all,

Just to update, I have seen the gp and she reduced my levothyroxine to 25mcg

because of my blood test result. But she will find out about a referral because

of the goitre and if they don't refer she will make enquiries about what to do

next.

Whilst I appreciate her efforts and am glad that she is not just dismissing me,

I am hoping that I will get the correct treatment.

Anja

Remind me what your thyroid test results were that made

your GP reduce your dose of levothyroxine down to 25mcgs Anja. If ONLY doctors

would start to listen to their patients and ask what their symptoms are and

look at their signs.

TSH was 0.1 (ref 0.27 - 3.5 I think) on 50mcg of levothyroxine and FT4 18.6 (not

sure of lower end but upper is 22).

Before that I was on 75mcg and my TSH was at 0.2 but the goitre had not started

to flare up again. During pregnancy I was over 1.

She did say that she will find out more in case they won't refer me which is

better than the last one, though I am not sure where she will get her info from.

I suppose we would bite the bullet and ask for a private referral again. I have

also been told to come straight back if I feel worse or the goitre gets bigger/

painful. I am relieved that she at least recognises there is a problem as that

is much more than they initally did.

I am unsure as to symptoms at the moment as some are so similar to postpartum

anyway (i.e. losing hair, tiredness).

Do you know whether breastfeeding can have an effect?

Thank you,

Anja

I hope you get that referral Anja, if they refuse you a

referral, I would write to them asking why, and ask them to respond in writing,

so that this can go into your medical notes. Keep us up to date on what happens.
