Selenium ?

Hi

I am pregnant and doing the iodine protocol...just at the dose of 12.5mg iodine.

I have been doing this for about a month before becoming pregnant. And I am now

5mths pregnant. So 6mths total.

I have just been worrying a bit about the selenium intake of 200mcg per day. I

have actually often just been taking 100mcg and then eating about 4 brazil nuts.

I really don't know if I should be concerned. It's just that anything

conventional you read about selenium supplementation is recommending a much

lower dose than 200mcg per day. And being that I am pregnant I thought I would

query it with this group.

It is probably important to know I live in New Zealand which is known to have

selenium depleted soils. None the less I still eat a very nutritious diet based

on Western A Price.

It would be great if someone could help me with this concern?

Thanks :)

Christen

Christen:

A small amount of Selenium is better than none. I think the guidline is 100 to 400 mcg.
