I don't think youir doctors know what they're doing. I had low blood pressure for years and have neuropathy in my feet now, which burn and ache. Some times neuropathy manifests itself by numbness. You could try taking some high dose vitamin B12. I have heard that this can work for some people.

I had the postural hypotension and low blood pressure for years. Even though you don't have postural hypotension your low blood pressure could still be linked to adrenal problems. There is a good set of tests you can do for adrenal function on the adrenal pages of www.stopthethyroidmadness.com. This is what I used to diagnose myself since the 4x salivary cortisol test was not available in France at the time.

Hi Isabel, have you had your vitamin B12 level tested, just

wondered if there was a connection between your symptoms and a low B12 level.

Ask your GP to test your levels of iron, tansferrin saturation, vitamin B12,

ferritin, folate, vitamin d3, magnesium, zinc and copper and let us have the

results, together with the reference range for each test done. Often for those

with untreated hypothyroidism or undertreated hypothyroidism they can get such

symptoms. Can you get a referral to an endocrinologist of your choice to get a

second opinion, as your GP is just that, a GP.

Why did they drop your thyroxine - was that because the free T4

was high and the TSH was suppressed???

Often people with hypothyroidism have very low BP - because the

metabolism is running so slowly.

I've been monitoring my BP it is low in am

after showering e.g.ranges 82 to 89 over 53 to 57. Highest recorded pm 115/78.

My limbs are often numb at rest and always numb on waking. Now I notice right

hand and foot numb when doing aerobic exercise (this is new).

Heart rate is 60 resting.

I can't see what the point of an ECG as there is no irregular rhythm.

GP doesn't think the numbness is circulation (I do!) but something else (neurologial??).

I don't get postural hypotension but do get thumping in chest (new over past

few months) all the time, and nausea and headaches.

Any thoughts anyone.

Thyroxene dropped over past year from 100 - 125 alternate days to 75 per day -

I think this is too low!

thanks much

Isabel

Back in the summer I also had numb feet together with pain in the area behind my

knee. Sometimes I also had tingling in my arms. I was convinced it was thyroid

related but my consultant was adamant that it wasn't. He sent me for an MRI

scan which found nothing. I managed to persuade him to increase my dose of

levothyroxine and those problems disappeared completely. They return when the

dose is decreased. This has happened twice now. Increasing the dose brought

other problems for me so it might not be the right solution for everyone.

There is no need to go to other web sites to find where to get

good sets of tests and other information about adrenals as this is all

available here on this forum web site in the FILES SECTION - see thyroid treatment/files/

- and click on the FOLDER entitled 'Adrenals'. Also, the tests recommended in

the US are not useful for those of us in the UK where we recommend getting

tested through Genova Diagnostics (UK and US). In the Files section, scroll

down also to the folder entitled 'Discounts on Supplements and Tests' and you

will find the details about how to order the 24 hour salivary adrenal stress

profile and other thyroid/adrenal and other tests. As a TPA member, you are

entitled to discounts on these tests and also a 33% discount from Nutri Ltd on

adrenal and thyroid supplements.

Any questions, just shout - we have lots of such information

readily available.

Thanks all. Sheila I had bloods done in Oct but no ranges. Should I ask for

the reference ranges and insist in mag, zinc and copper to be tested and cancel

the ECG?

I got : Ferritin 42 Ug/L, B12 = 420 ng/L, Folate 22.4 ug/L (High) (I was taking

a supplement - stopped now). D3 = 84 Nmol/L ( I am taking 75 ug per day).

Thanks

Isabel

You can ask for the tests Isabel, but unfortunately a doctor can

still refuse you them. However, I would not cancel the ECG - it will be one way

to put your mind at peace knowing that this is OK.
