Guest guest
The blood test result last September for cortisol was only a snapshot of the amount of cortisol being secreted at one specific time during the day. That result however, showed a very low level of cortisol secretion. Was this after an injection of Synacthen was given, i.e. did they take your blood and then give you an injection and then took another sample 30 minutes later - or was this the result of just a simple blood test? Are you diabetic? Your two first cortisol level results are outside the bottom of the reference range and suggest adrenal hypo function. Is this when you feel at your worst throughout the day June? The high afternoon level could be a problem and you need to check your blood sugar levels during the afternoon to see if there are any changes. How do you actually feel at this time, and I take it that you do not have problems with sleeping. Are you a patient of Dr Peatfield's? What supplements are you taking? Luv - Sheila Had 24-hour salivary adrenal tests, as suggested by a fellow member - results as follows: CORTISOL LEVELS nmol/L 0915 hours 11.6 LOW Range 12 - 22 1415 hours 5.4 Range 5 - 9 1915 hours 10.8 HIGH Range 3 - 7 2315 hours 1.9 Range 1 - 3 Total Daily Cortisol 29.7 Range 21 - 41 (Note - a blood test result last September gave Cortisol = 299 nmol/L Range 119 - 619! Why are above figures 10 times lower?) DHEA LEVELS 1415 hours 0.10 1915 hours 0.13 DHEA Mean 0.12 Range 0.10 - 0.50 DHEA/CORTISOL RATIO 0.39 LOW Range 0.4 - 2.
