Dear Sheila

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my request for information and help. You sound a very nice lady and to spend so much time helping others, in this busy world of ours, is a rarity indeed. I hope all the goodness you have put out to others. will return to you twicefold.

I do not take any medication apart from my thyroxine/T3. However, I am going to order some Vitamin C, as you have suggested, as I am sure I might be deficient in this vitamin, and I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks, once again, for the invaluable advice and I sincerely hope your husband is now enjoying good health.

Yours sincerely, .

HI TrishI am taking 50mcg a day ie 25mcg in the morning and 25mcg about 4pm.This morning temp was 36.8, so it looks like I have reached my correct dose. I do not take any T4 at all.I have heard about the fact that children should not be given CALPOL to bring their temps down, as this is how ones body fights off infections.I do however have a worse problem with my toes and front part of my feet. I do know that there is arthitas in my toes, but am wondering if I also have the same as my Nephew "Mortons Neuroma" which is a tumour and he has in the past had cortisone injections. He is now considering one more attempt with cortisone injection and then surgery. The surgery involves cutting a nerve which leaves no feeling in the toes. He said that you have to learn to walk again so I do not relish that.If you in turn lose the feeling

in your toes I would think it is easy to damage them without knowing it, so I would think one would have to have some sort of protection on them, like a shield over them.I will enquire at the surgery if my GP knows anything about FEET.Going out shortly to my photography group.Kathleen> >> > > > Hello all.> > I would be grateful if there were no further files and links uploaded to> > the files and links folders for the

Sue, you should report this doctor for such flippancy. This is quiteappalling behaviour. I would also tell this GP that you read the informationon the Internet because this is where all the latest thyroid/adrenalresearch is published and that you also read the top Medical Journals whenyou need information about thyroid disease, and that you are thoroughlySHOCKED AND DISMAYED that he obviously does not do this himself, and thatyou would advise him to stop reading Mill's and Boon and instead, do theresearch on the Internet that would help his patients, and help himselfalso. Seriously, I would NOT let this prat get away with even suggestingwhat he has. Report this matter to your local Primary Care Trust or to the ChiefExecutive of the hospital where he works, or better still, report him to theGMC as

not following 'The Duties of a Doctor Registered with the GeneralMedical Council'Luv - SheilaSnippet>>>>I also told him that I have a perminant ache in my kidney area that seems tohave gotten worse on starting levo, I asked if it could be adrenal relatedand he told me no and that would not be thyroid related. He then went on tosay that I should stop reading things on the internet and start readingmills & boon, it would do me and my partner the world of good!! And to leavethe endocrinology to him!Luv Sue X

Read the following http://www.drlowe. com/jcl/comentry /breathingproble ms.htm . also, do you takehigh doses of vitamin C? If not, then start off by taking about 5000mgsdaily, and you will probably find this helps enormously. Also, are youtaking any A|CE inhibitors for a heart problem. My husband had a heartattack and he was put on loads of different tablets. He developed the mosthorrendous cough which, at times, had him almost choking. He said all thetime the cough seemed to be initiated by just one specific spot at the backof his throat that was just towards one side. One day, he went into thechemist to ask for a cough mixture to sooth this awful cough and thepharmacist said "Are you taking Ramapril" and

said yes. thepharmacist told him this was the cause of his cough. He went to the doctorand the doctor stopped his Ramipril, and the cough disappeared completelybut it took a couple of weeks to do that. Check your medication .Luv - SheilaNow the doctor has prescribed steroids along with a different antibiotic. Hecannot determine what is causing the cough and its nasty side effects andhas suggested I might have asthma. I am due for a chest x-ray, but have beentoo ill to go. My question is should I be taking steroids and would thesteroids irritate the adrenal glands. At the moment, I can see steroids asbeing the only way out of my long term misery. I am not an ex-smoker. Anyadvice would be gratefully received.

Hi CazWith a TSH of 4.10, this shows that you are deficient in thyroid hormone. The pituitary gland only secretes thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) when itrecognises there is insufficient thyroid hormone in the blood, so itsecretes more to tell the thyroid gland to start pumping out more. This isshown by your free T4 result which is very low (it should be in the upperthird of the reference range, as should also your free T3, which is too lowalso. I doubt HRT would affect this.Your doctor needs to start you on thyroid hormone replacement. If herefuses, then ask to be referred for a second opinion to an endocrinologist.Your GP should be going by your symptoms, signs and family history and yourpast medical history and not relying on serum thyroid function test resultsalone. Remember also

that he is a GP and not a specialist.Luv - SheilaJust got my Thyroid Function test results back, could you take a look as idont understand the FT3 and FT4 results, i`m confused, maybe this IS all inmy head as the GP keeps telling me, as my Antibodies are low, so it cant beHashis like i thought.TSH 4.10 mu/l (0.35-5.5) (gone up from 0.19 in March and 3.00 2 monthsago)FT3 4.2 pmo/l (3.5-6.5)FT4 12.4 pmo/l (10-19.8)

Read his information here -http://www.dallasth yroiddoctor. com/low-thyroid- report.html? Id=7928 heappears to work very much along the same lines as Dr Datis Kharazian.Luv - SheilaNot sure how it would work without taking thyroid replacement. Maybe hethinks it will only work if you sort out the antibody problem first, unsurewhat he recommends.

[Attachment(s) from Sheila included below] Hi Irene - well, I finally got around to reading your message.TSH 18 ( range 0.3 - 6 (not a mistook) This was a repeat test, I phoned thisafternoon for it. What have they recommended. This is VERT high as it shouldbe in the region of 1.0 to feel 'normal'. free T4 is high in the range, which is fine if you are taking thyroid hormone replacement, but if you arenot, the level should be just above the middle of the reference range. Whydidn't they do a serum free T3?Genova Adrenal tests and Urine thyroid hormones reported 10/11/11T3 740 pmol/24H (range 592 - 1850thyroxine (T4) 660 pmol/24H (range 347

-1994Your 24 hour urine thyroid test shows a completely different result to theblood levels, but this is the more correct test as it shows the amount of T4and T3 that has been used in the cells over the past 24 hours, which is nota lot. T3 is very low and so is T4. This test shows you need thyroid hormonereplacement to build up your levels.Salivary Cortisol and DHEA -Age Group > 60sample 1) 1.4 nmol/L (range 12 - 22sample2) 2.1 '''''''''''' ''' 5.0 9.0sample 3) 0.1 '''''''''''' '''' 3.0 - 7.0sample4) 0.1 '''''''''''' '''''' 1.0 - 3.0You need to ask your GP to refer you to the endocrine department at yourlocal hospital for a short synacthen test to see whether you could besuffering with borderline 's Disease, or even 's disease.Don't hang about here Irene, these results are very very low.serum folate 7.1 ug/L (range 2.4 - 20.0This could be

higher and would be helped by taking 5mgs Folic Acid dailyavailable from your health food store.Haemoglobin 12.3 g/dl (range 12.2 - 16.5This too is low,MCV low 77 fl (range 82 - 98MCH low 26.0 pg (range 27.3 - 32.6Talk to your GP about these two - unfortunately perhaps, I mainlyconcentrate on thyroid and adrenal results.Creatinine. low 48 upmol/L (range 50 -125 - see aboveI started my T3 after my last blood test last week, I take a half tablettwice per day (20 ug) that is the only hormone i am taking. You may need to increase this by another half tablet (10mcg) daily inanother week, and keep increasing by another 10mcgs every 2 to 3 weeks untilyou find the dose of T3 your body is happiest with.I don't know how I will get the strength to face a doctor tomorrow but I amgoing to ask for NDT. About two years ago a young doctor gave me thyroxineand it mad my

body very toxic I was on this for a short time, then they justtold me to stop taking it, hence my reason for asking for NDT.Copy out the attached letters from the Medicine and Healthcare productsRegulatory Agency and show them to your GP when you ask for NaturalDesiccated Thyroid, just in case they try to tell you that the NHS cannotprescribe them because they are unlicensed. The MHRA state categoricallythat NHS doctors can prescribe specific brands of NDT, i.e. Erfa 'Thyroid,Armour Thyroid, Nature Throid and Westhroid but because they remainunlicensed, a doctor must take full responsibility for this. The surgery know that I don't want to see my usual Doc and want to seesomeone who is more understanding and sympathetic. fingers crossed.I've been hours trying to write this, I hope I hope there is no mistooks..Do ensure Irene that you get a referral immediately for a Short Synacthentest to see

whether you are suffering with 's Disease, your salivaryresults looked pretty bad to me.Luv - SheilaWith many grateful thanksirene---
