Guest guest
Dear Forum members: The considerations in PEP for rape victims include the same variables in consideration of occupational PEP. Is the source known to be HIV infected? or is this unknown? What is the probability of the perpetrator being infected? The rates of infection from male to female with vaginal intercourse are known and are dependent upon a number of factors including especially the virus burden of the perpetrator. Usually these variables are not known. Decisions have to be made based on the available information. Antiretrovirals have been used in rape victims. Can you use them? Yes. Should you use them? depends upon the circumstances and facts available.
