Guest guest
Hello Ali - what a shame you have an idiot for a doctor, an idiot who is not prepared to do his homework to find out about natural thyroid extract, but you cannot take a horse to water and force him to drink. If possible, either get another doctor who actually cares about his patients or treat your thyroid yourself - because you really do not need him. Neither do you need to be doing thyroid function blood tests when you are taking natural thyroid extract because the blood results will always be flawed one way or another. Your TSH is expected to be very suppressed when taking NDT simply because the pituitary gland, which secretes thyroid stimulating hormone, has absolutely no need to secrete ANY TSH as it recognises there is sufficient levels of thyroid hormone in the blood. The free T4 will be low, because it is the active T3 that every cell in your body and brain needs to make them function, your body does not need the T4. Your results are what is to be expected for somebody on NDT. However, something is probably stopping the thyroid hormone from being fully utilised at the cellular level, and you need to find out what this is, so tell your GP (as he obviously has no idea) that if any of the following specific minerals and vitamins are low within their particular reference range, that no matter how much thyroid hormone you are taking, it cannot be fully utilised at the cellular level, until whatever is found to be low has been supplemented. These are iron, transferrin saturation%, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. If your GP tries to tell you that there is no connection between these low levels and low thyroid, then copy out the attached document to show him just some of the references to the research/studies that show there is a connection. Once whatever is low has been fully supplemented, you should start to feel loads better. How long is it since you increased your dose of Erfa? You can increase this every 3 to 4 weeks until you find the dosage that works best for you. You don't need a doctor treating your paper results, you need him/her treating your symptoms until you feel well again. NDT has been used safely and effectively for over 110 years, and it was the ONLY medication used for all those suffering symptoms of hypothyroidism until the synthetic levothyroxine was manufactured. Don't these doctors know ANYTHING ? I am finding more and more that those who are regaining their normal health and getting back their life are those who are self-treating Ali. There should be a warning written in red on the packet - " Beware - some doctors can damage your health " Luv - Sheila Hi all, i went to see my Endo this week, a different one again and i am fuming as he patronised me telling me i should not be taking NDT and that all these websites are a load of misinformed sites and are annoying him. I did not even tell him anything just that i was taking Erfa. He told me my results were still low and i said i feel fine just probably needed to up my dose slightly but he took no notice! I am fed up with them all and can see why you all are coming onto this " best site " in the world for information because you are the only ones who listen and care about all of us. I told him how my sister is on Levo and how her doctor treats her when she has lots of symptoms and tells her it's all in her head because her bloods are fine. He said he wants to try me on a thyroid block replace to stable my thyroid for 12 months and told him NO. I am currently on 2 60mg tabs a day and have just upped an extra 1/2 tab. My results T4 9.2 TSH 0.77 mU/l. are these a bit low because i have been a bit tired which is why i upped another 1/
