Guest guest
Hi all, I wrote recently about obtaining my test results from Wythenshawe hospital. This is how the story goes: Appointment 31st August, bloods done 2nd Sept. No letter to me or my GP by end of October. 2 emails to consultants secretary unanswered (over two weeks). She tells me she was on holiday. Obviously then, all emails received when she's on holiday are not read or acted upon.(!) Rang patient experience team (used to be PALS), who say my notes are with medico legal department, and the PET will ring me by the following Wednesday. No phonecall by following thursday, so rang medico legal dept., and told they don't have my notes. Explained that all I wanted was to have a copy of my blood tests. Not possible. Told that since it was over 40 days since my last appointment, I would have to pay £10 to view my notes, and it would be approx 1 month before it could be arranged. Rang consultants sec to see where my notes were, and was told that the consultant was at that moment dictating a letter to my GP - two months after my appointment! A couple of days later received a copy of letter, which had been sent to my previous address, even though in the body of the letter it mentions my current address. The letter states - '....She is on natural thyroid extract, and her thyroid function tests are satisfactory, erring on the side of over-treated. I am happy she remains on this preparation at a dose of 3 grains. Her free T4 is relatively low which makes me suspect the preparation contains a relatively large proportion of T3.' My TSH was 0.14 (0.35 - 5.50) My T4 was 10 (1l - 24) Once again FT3 was not tested, even though the consultant had requested it. Surely with a low TSH and low FT4, the lab should have done FT3 too? I want to write to the consultant (Prof. T*****r) and put him right about the enduring myth regarding NDT (in this case Naturethroid) being inconsistent. But I'm running out of steam, and am dealing with making an official compaint to the hospital too. Has anyone any comments on this? It's a never ending battle with them. Is it worth making an official complaint? I'm really, really angry about this fiasco of getting my blood results, and it's starting to drain my extremely limited energy. It's the principle of the thing! (I have now increased my NDT, with no ill effects, in fact feeling slightly better than I have done for the last few months) All (positive!) thoughts and suggestions gratefully received! Thanks, A
