Guest guest
wow. I did not know about this until today. I am glad there was a good outcome. Hope that you had a good celebratory piece of cake or stiff whiskey! So strange that our docs over here in australia can prescribe these things with no problems, yet in the uk the docs have to go through a formal hearing for doing exactly the same thing. Is everything else going well for you Sheila? I have not been on the forum for quite some time. Guest guest
Commonsense reigns at last! You have to admire Dr S for his courage in standing his ground. The man deserves a medal (or, even better, a knighthood)! Guest guest
I have been wondering all week how he has got on ( I have not yet got round to even introducing myself yet! I am btw - hi everyone) I am delighted at this result, let common sense prevail, and the dawn of a new era for thyroid patients begin. My sincerest and heartfelt congratulations to both Dr Skinner, and yourself for your support not just to him, but to everyone involved in TPA. Guest guest
, The old hearing transcripts are on the TPA web site... and as soon as the new ones are available, they will be posted on the TPA web site too. If anyone gets a copy of the new transcripts, can you let me have them please and I'll make sure they get posted. http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/skinner_hearing_transcripts.php x > > you should all be able to read details in > > the Transcripts. > > Is there a case number or web address to the case number that I can send to my doctor with all the other documents I am sending to him. > > 2 >

Guest guest
YES!! Thank God at last his ordeal is over. Big thanks to Dr Skinner for standing his ground and all who supported him. I know this will help many sufferers if the Drs' fear of the GMC is removed, and this decision must go some way. Thanks sensible GMC panel. luv Dawnx
Guest guest
Well done Sheila, your hard work has paid off and I do hope Dr Skinner can put all this behind him. Maybe this is going to signal a change of attitude and doctors will stop trying to treat thyroid with Prozac and referrals to so called counsellors. Keep up the good work Helen > > ________________________________ > were > going through everything with a fine tooth comb before putlishing their > decision. > > The outcome was that Dr Skinner has had his restrictions to practice > lifted 100% and also his Fitness to Practice had been re-instated. Guest guest
It is fantastic news about Dr Skinner; congratulations to all involved. I just wondered - seriously, is there any way for Dr P to be exonerated? Is there anything anyone can do? Best Wishes. Hazel. www.oneagleswings.me.uk http://oneagleswingsme.blogspot.com/ I have just spoken to Dr Peatfield who is more than delighted at the outcome, and finds it almost impossible to believe. He should now be exonerated from what these same idiots have put him through in the past. Luv - Shyeila --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. Guest guest
Hi That is brilliant news to share! Wow! At long last! Doesn't the thyroid community need some good news and so does Dr Skinner of course. Cheers and have a good weekend. Fiona Dr Gordon Bruce Skinner After a gruelling week at the GMC in Manchester, we were called in toattend this morning's session at 11.00a.m. to be told it had beendelayed until 12.0 noon - to be told again, that it had been furtherdelayed until 2.45 - and then later on to 3.30p.m. The GMC Panel weregoing through everything with a fine tooth comb before putlishing theirdecision. The outcome was that Dr Skinner has had his restrictions to practicelifted 100% and also his Fitness to Practice had been re-instated. Thisis a GREAT victory aqnd a wonderful outcome to a very long and difficulttime for Dr Skinner and all his patients.Thge GMC have agreed that Dr Skinner was not acting dangerously ininitiating treatment with thyroid hormone replacement for those patientswho had normal thyroid function tests but who suffered several symptomsand signs of hypothyroidism, and that for those patients who did not dowell on levothyroxine4 only therapy, and that the use of naturaldesiccated thyroid extract (i.e. Armour Thyroid) was a safe andeffective thyroid hormone replacement that doctors could use, eventhough it remains unlicensed. This is a Precident - and one that the BTAare most definitely very unlikely to be happy with.Apparently, the staff of the GMC told us that they had NEVER had so manymembers of the general public attending such aq Hearing before, and thisimpressed them enormously. Also, there were beautifully bound (in red -with gold letters) volumes of overf 2000 patient citations publishedwhich obviously ipresse4d the Panel greatlyJust on way out to celebrate , but will give you more details when Ireturn - though very shortly, you should all be able to read details inthe Transcripts. you should contact Heatlher Cook at the GMC if youwould liike a copy of the transcript.Luv - Sheila

Guest guest
Absolutely fantastic news. So the little people do make a difference sometimes. This is fantastic news for Dr Skinner (and of course Myhill previously,) but to be honest it is a major breakthrough for us hypothyroids and those future hypothyroids. This story has to be a way of getting more hypothyroid information out there into the public domain, under the guise of the good news for Gordon but terrific news for the future treatment of patients. This is a way of telling people that the treatment of pigs thyroid is safe and practical and it is supported as good practice in some cases; that if you have symptoms you can still be hypothyroid and recieve legitimate treatment under medical supervision and further under the NHS too, DESPITE those blood tests telling us we are 'normal'. Excellent effort to everyone involved. The outcome was that Dr Skinner has had his restrictions to practicelifted 100% and also his Fitness to Practice had been re-instated.
