Apparently, the staff of the GMC told us that they had NEVER had so many

Sheila - Many, many warm congratulations upon this tremendous achievement! Bit by bit, hopefully we will all win this battle for good diagnosis and treatment! It might be incremental but these are the things that will make a big difference. Thanks for working towards this goal on the behalf of all the hypothyroid people in the world! What fantastic news for Dr Skinner and all his patients, lets hope that this is

the last of these discusting linch type mob hearings and, the doctors who

actually want to help their patients recover from the symptoms of thyroid

disease and get back on the road to health and wellbeing can do so without

Fabulous news!! Great to hear that Dr Skinner's job is saved. :)

Thanks Sheila and the others for your great help in raising awareness of

hypothyroidism and the treatments to those sufferers including myself. Hope

these continue to be a great success in the future. Blast the BTA and RCP!

Der Sheila and All,

Logically, the BTA cannot get upset. If the blood tests show that the patients

did not have a thyroid problem, then the problem was caused elsewhere outside of

the thyroid gland, such as in the post thyroid realm, which is nominally outside

of the " jurisdiction " of the BTA guideline. Unfortunately, there is no test

protocol for that realm. So, doctors are stuck with trials. Dr. Skinner did

that, but everyone concerned has to accept the risks of proceeding with only

clinical evaluation because the chemical evaluation is incomplete at best. It

seems that the GMC recognizes this - finally.

I believe that the BTA and the RCP should recognize the potential for post

thyroid dysfunctions and make up their minds whether they wish to deal with them

properly and scientifically or specifically disclaim them in their guidelines.

But the BTA and the RCP are currently doing neither. They are riding the fence

of ambiguity, which is specifically addressed in guidelines for authoring

guidelines by no other than the RCP. This should be some form of malpractice in

itself.

Specifically, the BTA uses an improper broad definition for " hypothyroidism. "

Consequently, the proscription against any T3 containing hormone replacement is

universal in spite of its need for post thyroid deficiencies. And while the RCP

specifically addresses primary hypothyroidism (deficiency of the thyroid gland),

its proscription of all T3 containing hormone replacements is worded to overflow

the bounds of primary hypothyroidism and into the post thyroid realm.

Obviously, both entities need to edit their works with someone with knowledge of

relevant medical science, some of which is 40 or more years old.

Have a great day,

This is wonderful news Sheila . Well done Dr Skinner and his lawyer and all of

you who went to support him . Drs who put patients first should never have to go

through this sort of thing . I am glad the GMC was overwhelmed by patient

support ,now can the rest of the medical profession hear about this.

Hi ,

Yes please. Post this news wherever you feel it is needed. This is going

to affect patients not only in the UK but in other coutries throughout

the world. It really does seem as if the tables are turning in our

favour - those thoughtless idiots who continue to hurt patients because

their TSH is within the normal reference range and refuse them a

diagnosis and correct treatment have their days numbered are perhaps

realising after all these years just how wrong they have been, and how

right doctors such as Dr Peatfield, Myhill, Hyams, and Skinner et

al have been all along.

However before posting the informnation on to the other forums, please

will you correct any mistooks I made in my original message including

spelling - I was in a rush to go out and celebrate our great victory

with fish and chips and am now sipping bubbly Champaigne - Ah! what a

combination - but tonight, it is the most brilliant combination in the

whole world.

I have just spoken to Dr Peatfield who is more than delighted at the

outcome, and finds it almost impossible to believe. He should now be

exonerated from what these same idiots have put him through in the past.

Luv - Shyeila
