Guest guest
Another really good message from Dr Lowe defending Dr's who use other than T4 only therapy and he also says that if there is a disaplianry against a Dr for doing so then you could actually contact him and he will defend the Dr.... Maybe something for Dr Skinner? But defiately worth a read regardless. http://www.drlowe.com/jcl/comentry/actionendos.htm Steve
Guest guest
The problem with the T4-only therapy is the proponents narrow vision of the body's physiology. The reality, as demonstrated by medical science is this: 1. T4-only was shown not to work as early as 1947 (Kirk and Kvorning) 2. That was verified in 1954 (Means) 3. Euthyroid hypometabolism was demosntrated by Dr. Goldberg circa 1960 4. Peripheral hormone reception T3 was discovered by Dr. Refetoff and staff circa 1967 5. Peripheral hormone metabolism of T4 to T3 was discovered by Dr. Braverman and staff circa 1970 6. Drs. Baisier, Hertoghe, and Eeckhaut studied the failures of endocinology and found them to have the same symptoms and responded well to desiccated thyroid circa 2001 In spite of T3 being discovered and found to be more active than T4 by Drs. Gross and Pitt-Rivers, the Pro-T4-Only crowd produced numerous studies to " prove " this was the case universally. However, as one would expect from the higher activity of T3, that these studies were of a special case, folks who did not have deficiencies in the post thyroid realm as discovered 40 years ago. Further, there is the issue of the definition of " hypothyroidism. " Does it imply just the thyroid gland or all causes of the symptoms of hypothyroidism? The former is correct. The latter is not correct because it implies non-thyroid causes of these symptoms. But to these endocrinologists think of that? Probably not because the curriculum for endocrinologists recommended by the Royal College of Physicians does not include anything on post thyroid functions. They should because 80% of the active hormone comes from non-thyroid sources. So does the pituitary tell all? Well, not exactly. If the liver, which produces 60% of the T3 is failing then the T3 is low. That can raise both TSH and T4. And the physicians are off to the land of medical error because they don't have all of the information they need.... Check out the Greater Thyroid System in the TPA files..... Have a great day, > > Another really good message from Dr Lowe defending Dr's who use other than T4 only therapy and he also says that if there is a disaplianry against a Dr for doing so then you could actually contact him and he will defend the Dr....
