Guest guest
Do you need a referral from your own GP to see Dr Skinner? Have any of you on here seen him, could you tell me what to expect? Does he prescribe natural thyroid? I think im going to go straight to him and not my GP, ive given up with that, but im 95% sure ive got to sort my adrenals out, i feel truly awful. Guest guest
Yes, you still need a referral for the moment from your GP. He is lovely caring ish man and his patients love him. He has given back normal health to hundreds of NHS failures. Yes, he prescribes thyroxine-only, t4/T3 synthetic combination therapy and natural thyroid extract. Guest guest
Hello Tammy I took Dr Skinners contact details along to my GP and asked her to refer me, she did so but wanted to know where I had got his name from and tried to put me off by saying he was not an endocrinologist. However I got the referal through her, but she insisted i also saw an NHS endo, which I did and luckily he had heard of Dr Skinner and wrote to my GP saying he was happy for Dr S to treat me! If the same happens and you are refered on the NHS as well as Dr S, I would try to do some research first, so that you are not left in a conflicting situation, with your GP listening to NHS endo & not Dr S. I am trying to work with GP along Dr S guidelines, so far so good, but am not there yet! If you do ask for a referal to Dr S, Good luck! Kind Regards Sue > > Hi All, > > I'd like to get my GP to refer me to Dr Skinner. How do I go about this? > > Thanks Tammy >
Guest guest
Hi Sue That comes as a surprise. Can you tell me where you saw that endo please - it obviously wasn't in Birmingham where Prof F rules the roost and would most definitely not go along with anyone being managed by Dr S. Even better, perhaps you could let me know his/her name and hospital. My email address is tcpace@.... It would also be interesting to know if your TSH was in-range before you started on medication and whether your GP is giving you prescriptions for T3 and natural desiccated thyroid. Looks we have some sort of postcode lottery going on here. Guest guest
Give up with this endocrinologist, obviously has little knowledge about the workings of the greater thyroid system. I have sent you a list of recommended doctors, so ask your GP to refer you to the one of your choice. Luv - Sheila Thanks , Shelia and Sue, My endo wants to get rid of me anyway, even suggested a 2nd opinion, my GP said her hands were 'tied' because the endo had written a letter saying a firm NO to Erfa, even though the GP was happy to prescribe Erfa before endo said no! I had a good telephone chat with GP, who said she would monitor me with blood tests etc if i purchased the Erfa online, however she would also refer me to an endo who would prescribe NDT if I could give her name etc
