Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Osteoporosis in June of this year. My

first blood test results at the time were:-

TSH 25

Free T4 10

No Free T3 was measured

Levothyroxine 50mcg was prescribed.

next test results taken 30/8/2011 were:-

TSH 8.37 mu/L

Free T4 16.8 mu/L

No Free T3 was measured.

Levothyroxine 75mcg prescribed.

Latest test results 22/9/2011 are:-

TSH 47

Free T4 19

Free T3 4.7

I had a battle to get my endocronologist to do the Free T3 test but I can see it

falls into the normal range with the latest test. My consultant thinks

everthing is fine and wants to keep me on the Lethyroxine 75mcg for three

months.

I have gained 2.l/2 stones in weight which doesn't help my back problems as I

have Osteoporosis and Oateoarthritis of the spine and have had to increse my

pills for the pain. I feel awful and have no energy and need to feel more like

the old me as my husband has many health problems and hospital appointments and

treatments and is now partially sighted and relies on me to chauffeur him about.

According to my latest test, is my T4 converting to T3, or should I obtain and

treat myself with T3. Advice wanted please.

Many thanks,

June.
