Hi there,

I have not had any feedback on my results below....wondered if anyone can

advise....see below...thanks

Hi All,

i am sending this email after a recent blood test result...picked it up

today....HOWEVER I took the Thyroid (NDT) by ERFA before the blood draw...as I

totally forgot....so please keep this in mind...

My TSH was 0.01mu/L (range 0.27-4.2mu/L) (6 months ago my TSH was 4.5mu/L...this

was well before I stared any cortef or NDT).

Free T3 10.4 pmol/L (range 3.9-6.7)

Now the doc today said she can understand the T3 being high due to the NDT but

she said the TSH should not be impacted to such a low range...even with haven

taken the NTD...

can anyone advise on this?

My Vitamin D levels seem to be taking forever to raise....and I am taking 6000IU

per day

Vitamin D 71 nmol/L (75-200)

Ferritin 47 ug/l (6-80)

I know my ferritin 6 months ago was 18 ...so I am continuing on my hemaplex and

Vitamin D as well as multi etc...

I do take cortef also..

My symptoms are, hypoglycemia and I can become so anxious and 'shakey' with

this, profuse hair loss and thinning and I feel the cold very easily ...and I

very much dislike the British Winters to the point we are looking to move to a

warmer climate...

I may have rambled a bit...but thank you for reading..

Any advise would be most appreciated.

Hi Khush

It may be that no one knows the answers to your questions and this is why no one

has got back to you. I've done my best with my answers here but I don't know

the answers either but if you can provide more information this might help:

Can you get retested having not taken the NDT the day of the test?

Can you also please advise how much Erfa and cortef you are taking?

Have you read this document in the files: " How to treat with natural thyroid

extract.doc@ ? It's in here:

thyroid treatment/files/ALL%20NATURAL%\

20DESICCATED%20THYROID%20INFO./

Specifically:

" 9) Unhappily, as we are all aware, your doctor is going to put a HUGE reliance

on thyroid function tests over symptoms. These tests do NOT tell the whole

story, especially if you are taking NDT and not levothyroxine alone. If you are

faced with such tests, then your goal is generally to get your free T3 and T4 in

the upper half of the range, but you have to figure out where YOU feel best,

based on symptoms. When you get your free T3 at the top of the range, (or when

you dose yourself to eliminate all symptoms) you will often find that your

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is BELOW the so called `normal' reference

range but that does NOT mean you are going hyperthyroid. Your doctor must learn

that the TSH is less important once you start natural thyroid extract treatment,

and just because one's TSH can get lower than 1 while getting the free T3 up,

does NOT mean you have become hyperthyroid. Your pituitary gland doesn't need to

push out TSH as NDT provides all the hormones a normal thyroid makes. "

Your doctor probably won't be interested in what he has to say, but at the 2009

conference, Dr Peatfield had this to say about TSH in the Q+A session:

http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/speeches_tpameeting0409.pdf

Q: Is there actually an ideal TSH level or is it different for everyone?

A. Dr P: It's different for everyone. The present TSH levels are simply

statistics. Some people just run much better on low TSH. I mean I've been on

Armour myself for over 20 years. I never ever had one blood test in my whole

life. Not even in the beginning. I know how I feel. My TSH is probably 0.00001.

I don't care. As long as I'm ok.

Q: <inaudible> so there's no point then?

A. Dr P: That's right. It's not a good test anyway

I wouldn't be guided TSH in myself, I'd go by how i feel and just double check

my Ft3 and FT4 levels.

> My Vitamin D levels seem to be taking forever to raise....and I am taking

6000IU

What vitamin D supplement are you taking? I've been taking a Healthy Origins one

and got my levels of 25-Hydroxy-Vitamin D up from 22.6 (30-60) to 45.6 (30-60)

in about 4 months. I was taking 10,000 IU a day though.

Have you had copper checked?

> I do take cortef also..

How much, how often?

What happens with the hypoglycemia? ie, when do you get it, how often after

eating, is there anything that helps it, makes it worse etc etc?

Please advise how much thyroid you are on, as well as how much cortef? I had

many hypothyroid symptoms but could not tolerate much thyroid without feeling

hyperthyroid - but this changed when i got my vitamin D3 up, started taking

pregnenolone and DHEA, iron, and Vitamin A and copper - something, or somethings

in those combinations got my body able to tolerate thyroid.

Since treatment have you had any improvements at all (even temporary ones) eg

when you started cortef or NDT, or whatever else you're taking?

Also please can you advise what your diet is like (please be specific if you

can) as some foods are supposed to help thyroid and adrenal function, and some

worsen it.

Do you drink much tea or coffee, too?

Hello Khush,

My TSH was 0.01mu/L (range 0.27-4.2mu/L) (6 months ago my TSH was 4.5mu/L...this was well before I started any cortef or NDT).Free T3 10.4 pmol/L (range 3.9-6.7)Now the doc today said she can understand the T3 being high due to the NDT but she said the TSH should not be impacted to such a low range...even with haventaken the NTD...She is wrong. It is perfectly normal to have the TSH suppressed when taking NDT. The TSH is a pituitary hormone (not a thyroid hormone) and it is a signal for the thyroid gland to produce more thyroid hormone if and when needed...when you take sufficient NDT the body gets all the thyroid hormone it needs, so the pituitary gland will not `ask' for more hormone to be produced. It really is nothing to worry about, nor is it dangerous unless both your FT4 and FT3 were significantly above the ref ranges and you presented with hyperthyroid symptoms. Your FT3 is what I would expect, since you had taken Erfa in the morning. If you feel well then there is nothing to worry about.

My Vitamin D levels seem to be taking forever to raise....and I am taking 6000IU per dayVitamin D 71 nmol/L (75-200)Ferritin 47 ug/l (6-80)

Yep – both (D3 and iron) are still too low...keep supplementing.I do take cortef also..

How much are you taking? My symptoms are, hypoglycemia and I can become so anxious and 'shakey' with this, profuse hair loss and thinning and I feel the cold very easily ...

If possible eat something small (but no sugary stuff) every 2 hours to keep your glucose levels up. Your iron is still too low, which might cause the hair-thinning, and your thyroid hormone might not yet get utilized properly because your adrenals may still be too weak, your Vit D3 is still too low and your iron too... it all takes time.

With best wishes,
