Guest guest
Hi Kim, I think being tired is very normal for achalasia patients. For example, before my surgery I spent years with the not being able to swallow issue. I work long hours on my feet, I am a hair stylist. I work so hard and have very little time to eat anyway, so when I had time I would nibble a bite or two every hour to avoid having to vomit while working! Talk about exhausted daily!!! My staff was always worried about me, they wanted me to just EAT, but did not fully understand why I ate such small amounts. Also, I don't know what age you are, but I felt very tired in my 40's along with this disease, other hormone factors into this as well...a womenly thing! I know that once you get some help and can eat near normally again, you will feel much stronger and have more energy. Hang in there and graze all day long if you have too! I know how hard it is to live with these issues. Prepare food items that are easier than others, do the best you can for now. Good luck with the tests, it will be great to get some relief soon! Best regards, Julee, So Calif. ________________________________ From: kimellenbailey <kimellenbailey@...> achalasia Sent: Sat, May 21, 2011 3:52:29 PM Subject: tests  i am going monday for a chest cat scan and barium swallow. then in a week have a motility test. i had blood work done and it all looks good even with the weight loss. i just stay so tired all the time. i wondered if i was anemic but i wasnt .. that was good. i wonder if it is normal to be so exhuasted. i have always been such a high energy person. i dont like this person i am becoming. i am no fun. is being tired like this normal ? Guest guest
Hi Kim I was also tired first 3 years before my manometry test, which confirmed Achalasia. I have had no operations or dilations. Now last 2 years I have felt so much better. It takes a bit of time to find out what you can eat. I finally got proper nutrition. It consists of Ensure plus 2-3 per day, a can of vegetable juice, Bushes brown beans with butter, Oat cereal with 4% Lactaid milk and BUTTER on a toasted English muffin with a slice of cheese. Also macaroni and cheese with butter and a bit of milk. And of course chocolate cake with ice cream and or milk shakes. I use Magnesium 250 mg times two, this helps with a BM. I believe the Magnesium open up the LES much like butter.. Hot coffee and a Cold Coke will help getting it down and or a pint of cold water. I am Anemic, not sure what caused it. My kidneys are a bit weak, my Creatinine levels are high but after all I am 80. Try to get proper nutrition. Have the doctor check the Creatinine level ,Iron and B12. My secret is BUTTER, BUTTER and Butter. Worry about your LDL levels later, feel better first. Guest guest
Being tired is normal, I think, because food does not get processed into our digestive system like it should. I have found taking a B-12 supplement for more energy to be of real help. Good luck with the tests. Guest guest
Hi , Are you looking for the same thing as me, where to get you're vitamins and minerals tested. I have searched the files and can't find them must be going blind also. If you know the answer will you post. I will give it a hour or so then will have to e mail them again. Might be in front of my nose but i did click on Nutri Ltd but that just seemed to sell vits, I have ordered from them even phoned to make sure. Can you or anyone else solve this mystery.
