Guest guest
Hi You might find it helpful to join our Internet Thyroid Support Group. We have, at present, just over 2635 members. We have three qualified medical advisers and some of our members are highly qualified either through their own experience or their research who will be able to help you. It is a very popular forum and therefore a very busy forum at times, so if you decide to register, I would use the option to receive either a Daily Digest (where you get up to 25 messages in must one Email) or use the option to receive 'Special Notices'. This will mean you will receive no messages, apart from the occasional one from me when I have important information to send out to everybody. We do not allow people to register who wish to hide their email address, or who use the option to receive 'No Email' - quite simply because there are times we need to send you specific information. We will do all that we can to give you the help and support you need, so when you register and I have approved your registration, please post a little information about yourself by way of introduction to the other members. Check out the attached document about all the different conditions that are associated with those having symptoms of hypothyroidism and see whether any one of these might be a cause of your husbands problem. Go through each one as a process of elimination. Also ask him to ask his GP to test his levels of iron, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc because if any of these are low in the range, no amount of thyroid hormone can be fully utilised at the cellular level, until whatever is low has been supplemented. If he thinks his doctor is likely to say that there is no connection between these and low thyroid, then ask him to copy off the other attached document showing just a few of the many references to the scientific research/studies done to show that there is. I look forward to 'seeing' you there. Sheila From: thyroid treatment [mailto:thyroid treatment ] On Behalf Of karen.l.allen@... Guest guest
Hello How old is your husband? How heavy is he etc? Has he been tested for any other deficiencies, like testosterone? Dry skin can be low Vitamin A levels which can be a problem in hypothyroidism. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0860/is_n12_v51/ai_8199677/ " Individuals with low thyroid function (hypothyroidism) have a reduced ability to change beta-carotene into true vitamin A. " As you probably know, the missing outer third of the eyebrows is known as the sign of Hertoghe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sign_of_Hertoghe it could be that your husband isn't converting the thyroxine very well and may do better on a natural dessicated thyroid product, like Erfa Thyroid, or may need to add in some T3 which is the active thyroid hormone that T4 gets converted into. What is your husband's diet like, does he supplement any vitamins or minerals? I am just wondering if he may have any deficiences that may affect how his body uses thyroid. I would look into the symptoms of Vitamin A deficiency. If you feel he may have this, then this is a very good brand http://www.amazon.co.uk/-Labs-Vitamin-10000-gels/dp/B002X9X13O/ref=sr_1_7\ ?ie=UTF8 & qid=1320774346 & sr=8-7 Can I draw your attention to these questions -it may give clues as to where your husbands problems lie (sometimes it's not just one hormone that goes) chris Ask your husband to fill them in - 0 for each 'never' and 1 for sometimes, 2 moderation, 3 often, 4 always ACTH 0 I have patches of hair loss 0 I have very pale complexion 0 I sunburn easily 0 I often have memory loss 0 I am stressed out/I'm facing many difficulties 0 My blood pressure has dropped 0 My friends tell me I look thinner Aldosterone 0 I uninate too many times a day 0 I crave salty foods 0 My blood pressure is low 0 I feel dizzy when I stand up 0 I feel much better lying down than standing up Calcitocin 0 I have compression fractures in my spine 0 I've lost weight 0 My back hurts 0 I'm very sensitive to pain 0 I have thyroid problems (goiter, thyroid insufficiency, radiation applied to this area) Cortisol 0 My face looks thinner 0 My friends call me skinny 0 I have eczema, psoriasis, urticaria (nettle rash), skin allergies, or other rashes 0 My heart beats quickly 0 My blood pressure is low 0 I crave salt and sugar (to the extent of binging) 0 I have digestive problem 0 I have allergies (hay fever, asthma, etc.) 0 I'm stressed out 0 I'm easily confused DHEA 0 My hair is dry 0 My skin and eyes are dry 0 My muscle are flabby 0 My belly is getting fat 0 I don't have much hair under my arm (0 = plenty of hair/4=hairless) 0 I don't have much hair in pubic area (0 = plenty of hair/4 = hairless) 0 I don't have much fatty tissue in the pubic area (flat " mount of venus " in women) (0=padded/4=flat) 0 My body doesn't have much of special scent during sexual arousal 0 I can't tolerate noise 0 My libido is low EPO 0 I have a particularly pale complexion 0 Prolonged physical effort leaves me breathless 0 I'm anemic (diagnosed with a blood test) 0 " A sense of well being " What is that?
